Buddha’s Birthday falls on Tuesday May 22 this year, making this weekend a perfect opportunity for a long weekend away from Hong Kong.

You don’t need to go far either, there are beautiful mountain ranges, superb beaches and rural landscapes to explore just across the border in Guangdong province, and the high-speed train network from Shenzhen can save you precious hours of travel time.

With the weather forecast predicting sunshine, here are three ideas for last-minute escapes, to make the most of the long weekend ahead.
