FARE Italian AMBIENCE The hotel basement restaurant’s décor is cheery and somewhat nostalgic, with simple, wooden tables and blue banquettes against the wall. COST The three-course dinner without wine is HK$700. WHO TO BRING Family, friends and business associates. TURN-ONS For starters, we went for the burrata with sliced heirloom and datterini tomatoes, radicchio, rocket with aged balsamic and pangrattato, which was clean and fresh in taste, but the star was the baked soufflé with roasted cauliflower, fontina cheese, spinach, cream and Parmesan. It was homestyle, delicious comfort food.

For mains, the roasted Italian veal chop with roasted datterini tomatoes, porcini mushrooms and salsa verde was another simple but amazing dish – the juicy veal oozing with tomato and mushrooms. We did not need a side with this, although mashed potatoes would go well. We also had the signature cappelletti di vitello, a handmade pasta stuffed with slow-cooked veal and pancetta mushrooms and Parmesan, which is a must-try Theo Randall dish. We had the Amalfi lemon tart – which is my favourite on his menu, the soft gluten-free chocolate cake with crema di mascarpone – my dining partner’s favourite, panna cotta with strawberries and the ricotta cheesecake with vanilla ice cream. TURN-OFFS The dim lighting does not help Instagram photos – but maybe that is a good thing? DRINKS Fine Italian wines, by the glass or bottle.
