What is your favourite film cameo appearance by Stan Lee, creator of Iron Man and Spider-Man?

Iron Man, Spider-Man, and X-Men creator, American writer and former president of Marvel Comics Stan Lee, has died at the age of 95.

Lee also created The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Daredevil, Black Panther, the Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange.

He also appeared in most of the films released by Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To celebrate the life of the man who revolutionised comics, we take a look at some of his best cameos.

1. Fantastic Four (2005)

Lee’s cameo in the 2005 Fantastic Four alongside Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba was the first time he played a character that he actually co-created.

William “Willie” Lumpkin is the Fantastic Four’s mailman, occasionally helping the group overcome evil.

2. Iron Man (2008)

When we spotted him in the original Iron Man, it is unclear if Lee is mistaken by Robert Downey, Jnr’s character Tony Stark as Hugh Hefner, or if he is actually playing the role of the famous Playboy founder.

The joke, sort of, makes a come back in his Captain America: Civil War (2016) cameo.

3. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

At this point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is no way that anyone in their fictional world would not recognise Tony Stark – even a FedEx delivery man.

However, fans joke that Lee has had enough of being mistaken for other people, so he jokingly takes revenge on Iron Man by calling him “Tony Stank”.

4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Usually making short cameos on the sidelines of films, Lee’s appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 put him front and centre.

He is, though, oblivious during Spider-Man’s big fight scene where Andrew Garfield and Rhys Ifans toss around furniture that conveniently never hits Lee, who is wearing a pair of headphones in a library.

5. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the past 10 years of Marvel films, and Lee’s cameo is hilarious.

As Tom Holland’s snarky school bus driver, he says: “What’s the matter with you kids, you never seen a spaceship before?”

Lee being Lee, of course, has seen a fair amount of spaceships over his past 10 years of cameo roles.
