Which are the top 10 airlines in the world in 2019?

Airline Ratings has announced what it believes are the 10 best airlines in the world, based on such criteria as fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, investment rating, product offerings and staff relations.

Singapore Airlines has been named the best airline in the world for 2019 by the Australian aviation website, airlineratings.com.

Airline Ratings made the announcement as part of its annual Airline Excellence Awards.

“In our objective analysis, Singapore Airlines came out number one in many of our audit criteria, which is a great performance,” Geoffrey Thomas, CEO and editor-in-chief of the website, said.

“For years Singapore Airlines has been the gold standard and now it is back to its best, leading in passenger innovations and new state-of-the-art aircraft models.”

The Airline Ratings awards are adjudicated by the publication’s seven editors using 12 major criteria including fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, investment rating, product offerings and staff relations.

Singapore Airline’s victory ends Air New Zealand’s five-year run at the top of the website’s rankings, with the former top-ranked carrier finishing in second place.

The editors at Airline Ratings praised Singapore Airlines for its industry-leading in-flight service as well as its introduction of new aircraft types such as the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner and the Airbus A350-900 ULR.

In addition, the airline earned plaudits for its revamped interiors, operational safety, and the relaunch of its non-stop service between Singapore and New York – the longest scheduled passenger flight in the world.

No airlines from Europe and North America made it into the top 10.
