Live it up in Singapore this January with K-pop band BTS, Pusheen and the Pongal harvest festival

If you find yourself in Singapore this month, there are loads of fun-filled activities to keep you busy.

Bring the children to the world’s first Pusheen cafe

When: Until March

Where: Kumoya, 8 Jalan Klapa

This beloved chubby cat you probably know from using Facebook stickers is coming to town in the best way. Japanese cafe Kumoya will host a pop-up cafe dedicated to all things Pusheen for a limited time only – the interiors will be redecorated, too. Even if you are not a fan, we are sure you know a few children (and adults who are young at heart) who do, and in any case, there’s never been a better time to do this for the Instagram.

Celebrate Pongal harvest festival

When: January 15-18

Where: Little India

For a heart-warming burst of culture, stick around Little India over these dates to see how the Tamal community honours the Pongal harvest festival. Light displays will be a major part of the celebrations in addition to other events, performances and workshops.

Track BTS down

What: BTS World Tour: Love Yourself

When: January 19, 7pm

Where: National Stadium, 1 Stadium Dr

The bad news: if you haven’t secured tickets, the Singapore leg of Korean boy band BTS’ World Tour sold out long ago – to no one’s surprise. The good news: they will be in town. So put on your investigator caps and try to track the band members down (see if you can catch them at Changi Airport).

Get artsy

What: Singapore Art Week

When: January 19-27

Where: Locations across Singapore

Art Takes Over – that is the theme of the seventh edition of Singapore Art Week, where you can expect numerous activities for everyone, from serious artists and art collectors to curious newcomers. The festival will take place all over the city, so download the Visit Singapore Travel Guide app to keep in touch with the week’s events.

Watch the Civic District light up

What: Light to Night Festival 2019

When: January 18-February 24, 5pm-midnight

Where: Singapore’s Civic District

Consider this an extension of Singapore Art Week. The Civic District will again host a 6-week-long urban art festival that showcases indoor and outdoor installations. Events begin in the evening and this can only mean one thing: light shows. Neighbouring institutes National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, Asian Civilisations Museum, the Esplanade Park, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall are all part of this festival.

More light shows
