Collectors go crazy for Omega’s Speedmaster Limited Edition 42mm ‘Ultraman’ watch

Omega released its Speedmaster Limited Edition 42mm ‘Ultraman’ timepiece on July 10.

Collectors wasted little time in snapping up all 2,012 Speedmaster Limited Edition 42mm “Ultraman” timepieces last week after Omega announced the sale.

Just 1 hour, 53 minutes and 17 seconds in fact.

The timepiece is an extension of the “Moonwatch” used in the monster-fighting kit in the 1970s Japanese TV show Return of Ultraman. The iconic feature of this sci-fi antique is the orange seconds hand.

While preserving the bright orange seconds hand in the same shape and colour, the new “Ultraman” superhero watch introduces features that pay homage to the classic character.

One new highlight is the silhouette on the 9 o’clock subdial that will pop out in orange under the UV light attached at the end of the watch’s strap changer.

Although all the watches have been snapped up, the waiting list on Omega’s website offers some hope.
