Expert solar power provider IST Energy is ramping up internationalisation efforts, emboldened by growing market opportunities in Asian economies that broadened their renewable energy goals. “We are getting a boost from the rise in government policies and programmes supportive of clean energy,” says David Chen, IST Energy’s founder, chairman and CEO. “This favourable regulatory environment is paving the way for us to strengthen our presence in Asia, notably in China, Japan, India and Vietnam, as well as in the United States.”

IST Energy is also acclaimed for its solar tracking technology, which enables solar panels to follow the sun’s path, resulting in 30 to 40 per cent higher energy output. Where land space is a constraint, the company has the expertise to use open water to build floating solar structures. Its water-based solar installations can be found in Taiwan and Japan.
“We’re continuously innovating to make solar power a reliable energy alternative that is affordable and accessible to a wider market,” Chen says. “Today, we are focused on integrating our sun-tracking technology into water-based installations – becoming one of the few in the world to have such know-how.”
Leveraging its overseas offices in the US, Japan, Britain and Australia, IST Energy has built strong ties with leading installers, state-run utilities and developers in major PV markets. It remains open to partner with solar companies that have complementary technologies and that are keen on collaborative development. “These alliances will aid our efforts to have more of the world run on sunshine,” Chen says.
