Driven by the robust growth of smart connectors in Asia, Simula Technology draws on its expertise in customised, high-performance connectors and accessories to expand its regional presence and reach global markets.

Before starting the business in 1990, Simula’s president Lucille Yu already had a solid grasp of Taiwan’s industry landscape. “Having strong technical knowledge and engineering capabilities, combined with a good supply chain, enables us to provide a total solutions package,” Yu says.

Simula manufactures electronic connectors for industrial, transport, health care and consumer electronics applications. Its automobile products solutions comply with ISO/TS 16949 standards, while its cables and connectors for medical devices are ISO 13485 certified. Committed to develop smaller, more efficient cables and connectors, last year Simula launched its universal serial bus (USB) 3.1 Type-C cable and connector, which can deliver up to 10 gigabits per second of data rate. It is also one of the few firms to obtain a USB test ID for its Type-C accessories.

Simula enhances its solutions by working closely with customers and maintaining strong linkages with industry giants in Europe, the United States and South Korea, where it nurtures long-term ties with leading original equipment manufacturers. To meet client demands in Asia, it manufactures and exports products from its Shenzhen factory.

Renowned for providing high-quality service and efficient cost savings, Simula is also a preferred partner of small-scale and niche firms. For the automobile, industrial and health care sectors, the company targets increasing its product share from 10 per cent to roughly 25 per cent of its overall business by next year.

Simula sees further growth in servicing European vehicle firms with production lines in Asia, and in supporting the region’s industrial automation market through its standard and customised connectors. Simula also eyes well-established markets such as Singapore’s medical devices and health care equipment industry.

“We seek partners with complementary skills and technologies to connect us with potential customers,” Yu says.
