Patients and facility users occupying some of Japan’s most prominent hospitals and buildings enjoy cool, fresh air because of building and equipment maintenance services provided by Nippon Air Conditioning Services. Creating comfortable environments for nearly half a century, Nippon Air Conditioning Services is in the business of making people happy and relaxed.

“Our philosophy is to bring together innovation and human resources to provide comfort to customers,” says Tomio Hashimoto, president. “Our group of engineers maintains optimal environments by studying business climates and changes.”

The company’s technical capabilities are unparallelled. A market leader in Japan, the renowned air conditioning industry troubleshooter was among the first operators to introduce the concept of preventive maintenance. This mindset has been passed on to customers in China as more Japanese-affiliated manufacturers and factories reap the cost and efficiency benefits of implementing proper building maintenance.

With branches in the Yangtze River Delta area, the company’s China business contributes at least 6 per cent to the total profit of Nippon Air Conditioning Services group.

“Japan’s service level is very high, probably the best in the world, and we are the top maintenance service company in Japan,” Hashimoto says. “Our customers in China and overseas consider our quality first rate.”

Posting its highest profit level last year, the publicly listed company has decided to gradually increase its dividend payout ratio from 30 to 50 per cent by 2018. Backed by a strong domestic sales presence, it is boosting its business within Japan’s medical sector – an industry that is immune to volatile economic cycles – to experience steady growth, and to further solidify its business foundation.

“Our goal is to improve the happiness of our employees and our shareholders, and making a profit is a means to that goal,” Hashimoto says.

Bullish about facility maintenance opportunities outside of Japan, Nippon Air Conditioning Services is in talks with investors and manufacturers to expand its operations in Southeast Asia.
