Jimmer Fredette scores 75 points in single Chinese Basketball Association game but Shanghai Sharks still lose

The 10th-round game saw his side come up against Beijing Fly Dragons, the final team of his rival Stephon Marbury, in the Chinese capital.
Despite Fredette’s heroics, which included 40 points in the fourth quarter and 62 in the second half, his team lost 137-136.
Shanghai had clawed back a 16-point deficit to lead by two with seconds remaining before Beijing’s Pierre Jackson hitting a buzzer-beating three to steal the win.
Jackson scored 63.
Fredette’s score was only the second highest in CBA history. That was Errick McColumn’s 82 points
It is his career best though, beating his previous best was 73 against the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions last season but that came in a game with two overtime periods.
His NBA career high of 24 points came for the Sacramento Kings in 2014.
The 29-year-old also played for the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans and the New York Knicks D-League team – where he was D-League All-Star MVP – before moving to China in 2016.
The dominance of foreign players has long been an issue in the Chinese Basketball Association and it came to the fore again on Fredette’s high-scoring night.
In Guangzhou on Sunday, the Guangzhou Longlions took on the Fujian Sturgeons.
Guangzhou’s Kyle Fogg and Marreese Speights combined for 54 points, while Fujian’s Andrew Nicholson and Eugene Jeter combined for 60 points.
Both foreign pairs scored more than half their team’s totals in Fujian’s 117-104 win.
