Yannick Carrasco training ground fight revealed as Belgium star misses international games with ‘passport problem’

The incident happened in a training session following the club’s crucial win over eventual champions Shanghai SIPG in August, a 1-0 victory through a Carrasco goal.
The club was involved in a relegation fight so it was seemingly kept under wraps, with Jin refusing to divulge details to the media. He has not played since.
But with the season over and the club’s top flight status secured for another season after another Carrasco goal in a 2-0 final day win, the news has now come to light.
“It was at a training session and because of a collision we had some small conflicts that eventually caused his nose to be injured,” Carrasco, 25, told the Dalian Evening News. “From my point of view, I think Jin Pengxiang is a good player and a very good person.”
Carrasco went on to apologise and explained that he offered to pay the US$11,372 medical bills that Jin incurred but this did not happen, nor did a reported request for compensation.
He also said he would be happy to play alongside Jin next season, while club chairman Zhou Jun apologised to Jin on behalf of the Wanda Group-backed club.
The news emerged during an international break where Carrasco was conspicuous by his absence.
The Belgium winger missed his country’s games against Switzerland and Iceland because of a passport problem according to national team manager Roberto Martinez.
Many have speculated the training ground incident and the international absence are related.
Carrasco is not the only foreigner to have trouble in China this season.
Tianjin Quanjian are reported to be considering legal action against French striker Anthony Modeste after the player returned to former side Cologne on Sunday, 18 months after leaving.
The German Bundesliga outfit announced his return on their website but the Chinese side responded with a statement of their own, stating the striker is still registered with them and contracted until 2020.
Tianjin Quanjian await Fifa’s decision on that matter and are preparing to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to resolve the situation.
