Let's Take It Easy came on nicely to take control 80m out following a midfield run for the win despite a rise in class. He's really come into his own this season to win three times, including both outings over this Valley trip, and might have the tools to score another. Favourite Imperial Gallantry finished nicely down the outside to grab second 20m out after sitting patiently third from the rear. The 19-pound difference in the weights cost him in the end. Super Lucky jumped out of his skin after easing back from a wide gate to grab third in the last stride at huge odds. He did go better at his previous run from three starts and the step up to a mile suited. Land Grant grudgingly gave way late after getting a soft time in front. He isn't far off a bottom. Big Bang Bong had his chance following a one-out, one-back run. The big weight was a hurdle but he's clearly in the right grade. Ishvara made some ground without menacing from beyond midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (408) - SPORTS ROAD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

SUPER SPRINTER began only fairly and then was hard ridden in the early stages to take up a forward position.

SUPER SPRINTER subsequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground.

RIGHT HONOURABLE began only fairly and then when being steadied to obtain cover was crowded for room between MAGNETISM and LET US WIN which was taken in by HARD BALL GET.

IMPERIAL GALLANTRY shifted out at the start and bumped MAGNETISM.

From wide barriers, GOLD LAND and SUPER LUCKY were steadied in the early stages and shifted cross behind runners.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, LET US WIN failed to muster speed.

Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, BIG BANG BONG travelled very keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARD BALL GET when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse.

Passing the 500 Metres, SUPER LUCKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIGHT HONOURABLE when racing tight inside ISHVARA.

In the early part of the Straight, ISHVARA and IMPERIAL GALLANTRY raced tight as ISHVARA shifted to the outside of SUPER SPRINTER to obtain clear running.

Over the latter stages of the Straight, LET US WIN lay in under pressure.

GOLD LAND lay in under pressure in the Straight and proved difficult to ride.

IMPERIAL GALLANTRY also lay in under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER SPRINTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LET'S TAKE IT EASY and IMPERIAL GALLANTRY were sent for sampling.

4 February 2018 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 9 (399) The Stewards tonight interviewed K Teetan regarding him using the whip on one known occasion when parading behind the barriers on BETTER CHOICE prior to being loaded into the barriers.

K Teetan was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching Stewards' Instruction 22 of the Rules of Racing in that he improperly used the whip on one occasion on BETTER CHOICE behind the barriers.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that K Teetan readily acknowledged that it was inappropriate to use the whip on the horse prior to the race.

Accordingly, permission was given for A Badel to be substituted as the rider of GOUTEN OF GARO in Race 4.
