Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (665) - ARC DE TRIOMPHE CHAMPIONS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters
On arrival at the Start, M Chadwick reported to the Veterinary Officer that CINQUANTE CINQ may have been kicked by another runner when proceeding to the Start.
The Veterinary Officer reported that there were no obvious signs of CINQUANTE CINQ having been kicked by another runner and that the horse was sound.
After making the necessary consultations, CINQUANTE CINQ was found to be suitable to race.
BEAR SLAM began awkwardly.
VIGOR FAME was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, RIGHT HONOURABLE was steadied away from the heels of MARZOUQ which shifted out.
After this, RIGHT HONOURABLE was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From wide barriers, I DO, DEFINING MOMENT and BRAVE LEGEND were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1600 Metres, RULE THEE, which was travelling keenly, improved to be racing in tight room between VIGOR FAME and CINQUANTE CINQ which shifted in when being steadied to obtain cover behind GIANT TURTLE.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, MARZOUQ was left racing wide and without cover.
At the 200 Metres, I DO was shifted to the inside of VIGOR FAME to continue improving.
BRAVE LEGEND (K Teetan) shifted out under pressure over the final 200 Metres and close to the finishing line K Teetan dropped his left rein.
After the 200 Metres, BEAR SLAM was steadied away from the heels of VIGOR FAME which shifted out marginally and CINQUANTE CINQ (M Chadwick) which shifted in under pressure.
M Chadwick was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he must stop riding and straighten his mounts.
Near the 150 Metres, VIGOR FAME shifted in away from CINQUANTE CINQ and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TRAVEL FIRST.
A veterinary inspection of MARZOUQ and BEAR SLAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BRAVE LEGEND and CINQUANTE CINQ were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

11 May 2019 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 7 (654) Following the race, A Domeyer reported that although obliged to race three wide in the early stages, WORLD RECORD had cover.
He said however that near the 700 Metres when DUKE DA VEGA shifted out to his inside, this forced WORLD RECORD into a four wide position without cover which left the horse exposed some distance from the finish.
He said WORLD RECORD consequently did not close off the race as expected and was disappointing.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 11 May 2019 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of FORTUNE PATROL, GORGEOUS AGAIN, NEVER BETTER, SUREWIN, INTREPIC, CARE FREE PRINCE, GLENEALY GENERALS, LITTLE WISE MAN, ULTIMATE GLORY, NICE KICK, BEAUTY APPLAUSE, SPEEDY DRAGON, GOOD STANDING, MISSION TYCOON, FIRST RESPONDER, TEAM SPIRIT, CHARIZARD, SPEEDY KING, REFINED TREASURE, GUY DRAGON and BAND OF BROTHERS revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of WINNING METHOD, JUDY'S STAR, DOCTORS DELIGHT, MONEY MARSHAL, SUNNY BOY, AMBITIOUS HEART, WHAT A LEGEND, ALLIED AGILITY, SUPER JUNIOR, YOUNG LEGEND, BEAUTY DAY, TOUCH OF LUCK, BELLAGIO, DESTIN, HO HO KHAN, SAVVY SIX, HAPPY TIME, MULTIMILLION, DIAMOND KING, EZRA, SMART ROCKET, SHANGHAI DRAGON, DEFINING MOMENT, GRAND CHANCELLOR, NOT USUAL TALENT, PRINCE OF GEMS, SILVER FIG and YICHUN BLITZ (5.5.19) proved negative.

Brave Legend came from near last and very wide out to snatch victory from favourite Cinquante Cinq on the wire. He loves the Valley. Cinquante Cinq was just collared after hitting the front 20m out after a one-out one-back run. He lost nothing in defeat and remains one to follow. Giant Turtle was swamped late after getting pestered in front by Travel First. He's not easy to run down when he finds the front in this grade. Defining Moment finished well one from the right after straightening last to fill a Quartet spot in his first Valley run. He's a winner waiting to happen at either course over a mile and 1,800m. Vigor Fame stayed on okay travelling midfield after jumping slowly. Ruletheroost had his chance but couldn't turn it up another gear following a box-seat run in his first run in the grade. A step back to a mile might suit him better. Plunged late Bear Slam faded after a handy run without cover. He had an excuse but is more effective on the dirt.
