Recap by phillip woo

Old-timer Jolly Banner got the gap between the leaders 100m out to grab victory 20m out following a perfect run third along the fence in the five-runner test to land a betting move. He doesn't know how to produce bad runs. Late-fancied favourite Perfect Match was collared late after getting every chance in front. It was a good run in defeat despite performing outside his handicap. Fat Turtle came up one-paced after stalking the speed. He's better ridden more patiently. Early favourite Thanks Forever couldn't lift after making his run second from the rear. He wasn't able to overcome the big weight and rise in trip. Northern Superstar never menaced at the rear as expected over an inadequate trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (751) - THE PREMIER CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1400Meters

THANKS FOREVER was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Passing the 900 Metres, JOLLY BANNER and THANKS FOREVER raced tight.

After the race, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, THANKS FOREVER's failure to close off the race over the concluding stages was attributable to the fact that the horse was stepping up in distance to 1400 Metres and carrying top weight today.

A veterinary inspection of THANKS FOREVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PERFECT MATCH at the request of Trainer C S Shum.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT MATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

JOLLY BANNER and PERFECT MATCH were sent for sampling.
