Recap by phillip woo

Late-fancied favourite Charge On ran on nicely down the centre of the track to grab victory 100m out following a one-off run behind midfield. He's a progressive sort who's now won two of five starts. Solar Power closed well to finish a close second after settling effectively one-out, one-back. He appears to have improved during the break. Early favourite Nordic Warrior found a couple just too good after poking his head just in front near the 100m following a rail run in midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen at this level. Wonder Express came up one-paced over the last 100m after rushing forward to sit outside the dawdling pace of Colonel 700m out. It was another honest effort. Bulb Elite stayed on without menacing following a one-off run in midfield. It was a better run second- up this term but he seems destined for a stint in Class Five. Sparkling Star made some ground near the outside following a patient ride third from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (58) - SWALLOW HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

NORDIC WARRIOR and SUPER HONG KONG were slow to begin.

DESTINE JEWELLERY was crowded for room on jumping between CHARGE ON and WONDER EXPRESS which shifted in.

SOLAR POWER shifted out at the start and inconvenienced BULB ELITE.

Shortly after the start, CHAMP PATROL got its head up and travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover and after the 1300 Metres was steadied away from the heels of WONDER EXPRESS which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, SPARKLING STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

WONDER EXPRESS travelled wide and without cover in the early stages and passing the 800 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead approaching the 600 Metres.

Passing the 900 Metres, CHARGE ON was awkwardly placed behind BULB ELITE.

Making the turn near the 850 Metres, CHAMP PATROL was taken out marginally by ELIGERE which was directed out by CHARGE ON.

Passing the 850 Metres, BULB ELITE got its head up when racing close to the heels of SOLAR POWER.

SPARKLING STAR had some difficulty obtaining a run in the early part of the Straight and then approaching the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of CHARGE ON to obtain clear running.

CHAMP PATROL got its head on the side and lay out under pressure in the Straight.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SPARKLING STAR had bled from both nostrils.

Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NOBLE CONSORT at the request of Trainer C S Shum.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of ELIGERE and DESTINE JEWELLERY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER HONG KONG immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

CHARGE ON and SOLAR POWER were sent for sampling.
