Recap by phillip woo

Sparkling Dolphin kept finding after showing gate speed to lead from a low draw to score an upset win. He didn't do much last season but was only stepping out for the fifth time. Favourite United We Stand stayed on reasonably well tracking the speed to just edge newcomer Amazing Rocky for second without menacing the winner. Punted late Amazing Rocky ran on nicely after travelling better than midfield on the stands side. He looks a nice type going forward as a sprinter/miler. Sunny And Gold closed off well from midfield to fill the frame. He's lightly-raced and there's more improvement to come. Give Way Please stuck on all right despite having to change ground twice chasing the eventual winner. It was a pleasing debut effort. Brave Power got going late from towards the rear. He's still learning but is also crying out for a longer trip. Goko showed nothing after drifting back to travelling behind midfield on the stands side.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (79) - SHA LO WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

GOODLUCK GOODLUCK, GIVE WAY PLEASE and THE ELITES were crowded for room on jumping between JUMBO ENGINE which was racing tight inside MANNA FROM HEAVEN and SPARKLING DOLPHIN which shifted out.

BRAVE POWER began only fairly.

GOKO shifted out at the start and inconvenienced ALL THE WAY.

Then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, GOKO failed to muster speed.

Approaching the 900 Metres, ALL THE WAY was bumped on the hindquarters by GOKO which was racing tight outside AMAZING ROCKY.

Passing the 200 Metres, GIVE WAY PLEASE was shifted to the inside of SPARKLING DOLPHIN which drifted out under pressure.

GIVE WAY PLEASE was then shifted to the outside of UNITED WE STAND passing the 100 Metres to obtain clear running.

Close to the finishing line, VICTORY IN HAND was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GIVE WAY PLEASE.

Also close to the finishing line, BRAVE POWER was shifted in away from the heels of SUNNY AND GOLD to continue improving.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of C Y Ho (BRAVE POWER), 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless told to ensure that he rides his mounts out all the way to the end of the race wherever appropriate circumstances exist.

He was further advised that this was the second occasion this season that the Stewards had spoken to him regarding this matter.

After the race, V Borges expressed concern regarding the action of VICTORY IN HAND.

A veterinary inspection of VICTORY IN HAND immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY IN HAND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SPARKLING DOLPHIN and UNITED WE STAND were sent for sampling.
