Recap by phillip woo

Super Alliances let down nicely from behind midfield to win going away 80m out. The writing had been on the wall following a fast-finishing second last time out. Punted-late Victory In Hand just held off Hercules for second after slotting nicely one-off in midfield with cover from a wide gate. It was his best run in a while on either surface. Hercules just failed to get up for the quinella spot after a patient ride third from the rear. Golfman Star grudgingly gave way after leading one-off outside Winning Strikes from an awkward gate. It was a better effort following a downgrade at his fifth start. Odds-on favourite Resolute made only a mild bid travelling one-off better than midfield. He disappointed carrying more weight following a last-start win. Lucky Turbo made some ground from behind midfield. It was an improved run with a switch to the dirt. Winning Strikes was yielding ground 100m out after pressing the pace on the fence.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (162) - TIN HA SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

LUCKY TURBO began awkwardly.

HERCULES began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GOLFMAN STAR which was tight outside RESOLUTE.

Shortly after the start, WINNING STRIKES shifted out and inconvenienced CRUCIATUS.

CRUCIATUS was then awkwardly placed outside the heels of WINNING STRIKES for a short distance.

From a wide barrier, SPEED TO EXCEED was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When being steadied after the 1000 Metres to obtain cover, VIVA MAMA travelled keenly.

LUCKY TURBO made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly.

Approaching the 50 Metres, SKY TREASURE was bumped and taken out by LUCKY TURBO which shifted to the outside of GOLFMAN STAR to continue improving.

Throughout the race, SKY TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of RESOLUTE, K Teetan stated that, unlike its last start, he had to ride his mount along for some distance in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible.

He said after the 800 Metres he considered improving to the outside of VIVA MAMA with a view to obtaining a more prominent position, however, RESOLUTE was not travelling well enough to be able to do so and for this reason he was obliged to remain racing behind VIVA MAMA.

He said he then had to ride RESOLUTE along passing the 600 Metres, however, the horse did not quicken for him.

He added he placed the horse under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight and whilst RESOLUTE did make up some ground approaching and passing the 200 Metres, it then finished off the race only fairly and, in his opinion, was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of RESOLUTE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RESOLUTE, SUPER ALLIANCES and VICTORY IN HAND were sent for sampling.
