Race Seven: (209) - THE JOCKEY CLUB CUP - Class G2 - 2000Meters
DANCES WITH DRAGON was crowded for room on jumping between FURORE and TIME WARP which shifted out.
COLUMBUS COUNTY and HO HO KHAN were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
PLAYA DEL PUENTE shifted out at the start and bumped EXULTANT.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, COLUMBUS COUNTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SINGAPORE SLING when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse.
COLUMBUS COUNTY then continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of SINGAPORE SLING which shifted out when being steadied to obtain cover behind CHEFANO.
Passing the 600 Metres, DANCES WITH DRAGON was awkwardly placed behind FURORE.
Passing the 500 Metres, PLAYA DEL PUENTE was inconvenienced by DANCES WITH DRAGON which was crowded for room outside FURORE (J Moreira) which shifted to the outside of EXULTANT to obtain clear running.
J Moreira was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Passing the 300 Metres, COLUMBUS COUNTY was directed to the outside of EXULTANT to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection of TIME WARP immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
FURORE and EXULTANT were sent for sampling.

Firming late in betting, second favourite Furore was much too good after hitting the front 230m out following a dream run third along the fence to ring up back-to-back wins. He's a revitalised runner since joining the Tony Cruz camp and will be a live chance in next month's HK Cup. Odds-on choice Exultant kept on one paced after matching the speed of leader Time Warp from a wide gate. He's on track for the HK Vase. Columbus County was never getting to the top pair but still closed well from the rear of the field to fill a placing. It was a solid effort despite a huge disadvantage in the handicaps. Dances With Dragon stayed on all right to fill the frame in fourth following a rail run in midfield. He's not good enough at this level. Ho Ho Khan ran on all right from towards the rear of the field. He's crying out for the 2,400m. Singapore Sling ran on without menacing after settling second last in the run. This was too rich a test for his blood.
