Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (241) - HUMPHREYS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
RAINBOW LIGHT stumbled at the start.
WINNING VOLATILITY began only fairly and then shifted out towards the heels of HAPPY TANGO which on jumping shifted out and bumped CAPSULE KING.
TELECOM PUMA began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped DEMONS ROCK which shifted out and inconvenienced JOYFUL MOMENTS.
This resulted in TELECOM PUMA losing ground.
TELECOM PUMA was then ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
JOYFUL MOMENTS was shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages.
DEMONS ROCK was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, DOLLAR REWARD travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
When questioned, C Schofield stated that GOLD COMET was always off the bridle in the race and was never able to travel comfortably.
He said he felt that the tempo of the race in the early stages was quicker than at its previous start and for this reason, despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, GOLD COMET was not able to balance up and travel strongly.
He said GOLD COMET then finished off the race one-paced and following the race he recommended to connections that they consider stepping the horse up in distance at its next start to afford it the opportunity to travel better than it did today.
A veterinary inspection of GOLD COMET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLD COMET, WAR LORD, GOLDMAN STAR and HAPPY TANGO were sent for sampling.

Golfman Star needed the entire straight to finally wear down long-time leader Happy Tango in the dying stages for the win after a speed-tracking run on the fence. The writing was on the wall after holding on well for fourth setting a good pace last time out. Happy Tango wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the run from a wide gate. It was his best run in a while following a stable change and switch to the dirt. Demons Rock closed nicely to finish a non-threatening third after settling fourth last from a wide gate. He relished a return to the surface and distance of a win two back in Class Five. War Lord came up one-paced over the final 100m after peeling wide and launching his bid 450m out following a one-off run fore of midfield. Dollar Reward ran to earn another minor cheque following a midfield run. Gold Comet never fired travelling behind midfield on the fence. The run was hard to explain after a good second-up performance.
