Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (299) - PAK TAM AU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters
VINCY was slow to begin.
DEAL MAKER and PURE LEGEND bumped heavily shortly after the start.
From the outside barrier, TANGMERE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, GOD OF DRAGON failed to muster speed.
Approaching the 50 Metres, DEAL MAKER shifted out away from the heels of THE HULK which was tiring and consequently bumped with PEACH BLOSSOMS.
DEAL MAKER then raced tight between THE HULK and PEACH BLOSSOMS over the concluding stages.
TURIN REDSTAR raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
A veterinary inspection of TOUCH OF LUCK, which compounded badly from the 600 Metres, immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from the right nostril.
A subsequent endoscopic examination of TOUCH OF LUCK confirmed that horse to be a bleeder.
When questioned, C Schofield stated that he was instructed to be positive on THE HULK and take up a forward position.
He said it was explained to him that the horse got too far out of its ground at its most recent starts and for this reason the connections wished for THE HULK to be ridden nearer to the lead.
He said after settling outside DEAL MAKER and behind the early leader TOUCH OF LUCK, THE HULK was left in front at the 600 Metres when TOUCH OF LUCK commenced to give ground.
He added THE HULK was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of THE HULK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of PURE LEGEND immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, PURE LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DEAL MAKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PING HAI TREASURE, CLEAR CHOICE and TURIN REDSTAR were sent for sampling.

Punted late Clear Choice responded well to take control 200m out after a deep run with cover behind midfield for a sixth career win. He had been knocking on the door. Turin Redstar found one too good after hitting the front 250m out following a no-cover run better than midfield from a wide gate. He proved a last-start win was not a fluke. Outsider Tangmere ran on well to fill a placing after improving to midfield turning the final bend jumping from the widest gate. It was an improved run with a switch to the dirt. Great Treasure came from last and widest out to fill the frame. He rarely produces a bad run on either surface. Favourite Ping Hai Treasure only held his ground after settling three back on the fence. He's not reliable. God Of Dragon ran on without menacing after settling third from the rear. He's more effective on the turf. Vincy left things too late after travelling second from the back. Like the latter, he's a turf horse.
