Recap by phillip woo

Sunny Boy let down nicely to get up 50m out for the win after coming off the fence in midfield rounding the final bend. He was down to the right mark with the claim well utilised. Sunset Watch finished well to grab second in the final stride despite a wide without cover run behind midfield. He proved a placing last season in his only other start over this dirt trip was not a fluke. Plunged late Utopia Life found a couple too good in the end after surging to the front 150m out following a pace-stalking run. It was a better effort with a return to the dirt. Flying Bonus grudgingly gave way after being hustled to lead from a wide draw. It was a typical effort. Super Alliances was working home with purpose late after a patient ride third from the rear. It wasn't a bad run after coming out of a last-start failure lame and with blood in his trachea. Favourite All For South came up one-paced over the final 150m after settling prominent two-or-three deep from a wide gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (387) - TAI TAM BAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

AQUILA shifted out at the start, resulting in TELECOM SMART being checked when crowded onto ETERNAL BEAUTY.

After beginning awkwardly and making contact with the inside gate, GUNNAR (Apprentice K H Chan) then failed to muster speed despite being vigorously ridden for some distance.

Apprentice Chan reported that he initially was hopeful of finding a position near midfield, however, after making contact with ETERNAL BEAUTY after leaving the 1000 Metres, his saddle shifted to the right which placed him at a disadvantage from that point onwards.

Approaching the 900 Metres, when GUNNAR lost ground due to its saddle shifting, it shifted in, causing some momentary crowding to SUPER ALLIANCES on the turn after the 600 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of GUNNAR immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, GUNNAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the 800 Metres, AQUILA raced keenly and got its head up for a short distance.

SUNSET WATCH travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the race, J Moreira reported that ALL FOR SOUTH commenced to hang out after the 600 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of ALL FOR SOUTH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in its trachea and also found the horse to have sustained a small cut to the left hind cannon.

Before being allowed to race again, ALL FOR SOUTH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Also after the race, C Schofield reported that FALCON TURBO, which was having its first race start on the All Weather surface, never travelled comfortably and did not appear to handle the track.

A veterinary inspection of FALCON TURBO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of AQUILA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ALL FOR SOUTH, SUNNY BOY and SUNSET WATCH were sent for sampling.
