Late-fancied favourite Family Folks kept on gamely after overhauling long-time leader Noir Rider 100m out following a pace-stalking run for a second win from six starts. It was a solid effort carrying top weight with a switch to the Valley. Early favourite Telecom Smart ran on well to grab second close to home travelling midfield on the fence after a slow start. He needs to get his manners right at the start but is a winner waiting to happen. Plunged late, Noir Rider was on his tippy toes 100m out after straightening two lengths on top. It was clearly his best run to date at his third run in the grade. Blissful Star ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening fourth after a prominent run. It was a positive effort on debut. Street Scream ran on without menacing after a rails run behind midfield. He's likely crying out for a longer trip. Universal Go Go left things too late after travelling wide towards the rear from an outside gate. He needs to draw a better gate. Sensationally backed late, newcomer Amazement made some headway late without ever looking a threat settling one from the back. He needed the outing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (624) - CONDUIT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

TELECOM SMART began only fairly.

SUPER FLAMES and STREET SCREAM bumped at the start.

After this, STREET SCREAM was steadied to obtain cover.

From the outside barriers, COBY OPPA and AMAZEMENT were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 900 Metres, NOIR RIDER became unbalanced of its own accord.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, BLISSFUL STAR got its head on the side and lay out.

Then at the entrance to the Straight, BLISSFUL STAR was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the hindquarters of TELECOM SMART.

Passing the 200 Metres, NOIR RIDER shifted out under pressure, requiring its rider to change his whip over into his left hand.

Throughout the race, CALIFORNIA LEGEND travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, C Schofield reported that MUDITA, which was racing back in distance tonight, was able to obtain a forward position behind the speed from the inside barrier and travelled satisfactorily in the early stages.

He said however that MUDITA came under pressure passing the 500 Metres and after this did not respond to his riding and, in his opinion, felt "flat?? A veterinary inspection of MUDITA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
