Recap by phillip woo

Co-favourite Helene Wisdom Star took the short route home to take control 60m out following a rail run in midfield for a first win at his ninth start. The win was forthcoming after filling the frame in his past four starts and there's likely more up his sleeve. Exceptional Nice did everything right in front but get the win but the winner does look a nice type. Fast Pace just held on for third without menacing the quinella pair after a dream run in the box-seat as the equal favourite. It was another honest performance. Farshad just failed to get up for a placing following a one-off trip in midfield. It was a decent effort carrying more weight following back-to-back wins. Turin Redstar peaked on his run 100m out after moving to third rounding the final bend following a wide without cover run better than midfield from an outside draw. He might be one to keep safe at a price from a better gate. Tashidelek made some ground without menacing after a wide with cover run behind midfield. He's struggling off his current mark after back-to-back wins to open the campaign.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (630) - BREEZY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

SSTAR OF GLORY and VILLA FIONN bumped at the start.

BUNDLE OF DELIGHT shifted in on jumping and bumped FARSHAD.

BUNDLE OF DELIGHT was then steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

From the outside barriers, TASHIDELEK and ALPHA HEDGE were steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start.

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, FARSHAD was slow to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied to obtain cover.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, VILLA FIONN commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FARSHAD.

Over the concluding stages, FARSHAD got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

Throughout the race, TURIN REDSTAR travelled wide and without cover.

K Teetan explained that as he was commencing to shift FARSHAD to the outside of TURIN REDSTAR to obtain clear running at the entrance to the Straight, his right foot slipped out of the stirrup iron which resulted in him becoming badly unbalanced which caused FARSHAD to also become unbalanced and shift back in behind TURIN REDSTAR and causing FARSHAD to be awkwardly placed behind that horse.

He said passing the 300 Metres he was able to reposition his foot in the iron and immediately shifted FARSHAD to the outside of TURIN REDSTAR and into clear running.

After the race, Z Purton (ALPHA HEDGE) stated that, from the outside barrier, it was decided to ride the horse quietly in the early stages to obtain cover.

He said prior to the race it was anticipated that the race would be run at a good tempo and it was felt that if use were to be made of ALPHA HEDGE in the early stages, the horse may be left racing wide.

He said after shifting ALPHA HEDGE across behind runners, the race was run at a more moderate tempo than had been expected.

A veterinary inspection of ALPHA HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BUNDLE OF DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HELENE WISDOM STAR and EXCEPTIONAL NICE were sent for sampling.
