Recap by phillip woo

Happy Tango led after an alert start and repelled a stern challenge from the late-fancied Management Supreme over the final 200m to just prevail. He was able to build on some solid form on the dirt to ring up a second win from his past three starts. Management Supreme had his chance following a pace-stalking run but couldn't reel in the leader. It was a solid effort in his first start after bleeding in a trial in February. What A Legend ran on steadily after a one-off run in midfield to easily take third. It was another genuine performance in this grade despite top weight. Poised To Strike made ground late down the outside to add some value to the quartet after settling four back and one off the fence from a wide gate. A Smile Like Yours ran on steadily to just get the head down for a minor cheque after saving ground behind midfield. He had flashed some ability in his opening five runs and this was a positive performance off a 126-day break. Favourite Summit Cheers was disappointing after a box-seat run. He's found things harder in back-to-back runs carrying big weights. Bella Baby was doing his best work late from the rear of the field. He prefers the longer straight at Sha Tin.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (741) - PORT SHELTER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

SUMMIT CHEERS shifted in at the start and inconvenienced COOLCELEB.

WIN TECH shifted out at the start and bumped POISED TO STRIKE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced and WIN TECH shifting in and bumping MULTIPLE STAR and POISED TO STRIKE shifting out and hampering WIN WIN STAR.

A SMILE LIKE YOURS began awkwardly and then was bumped by WHAT A LEGEND due to both horse shifting ground.

A SMILE LIKE YOURS then shifted out and bumped MULTIPLE STAR.

After being ridden along for a short distance, A SMILE LIKE YOURS failed to muster speed and then was steadied near the 1100 Metres to obtain cover.

POISED TO STRIKE lost its left hind plate shortly after the start.

BELLA BABY was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, COOLCELEB failed to muster speed.

Passing the 1000 Metres, PACKING KINGDOM commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed behind SUMMIT CHEERS which was steadied to obtain cover behind HAPPY TANGO.

Approaching the 800 Metres, WIN TECH was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, PACKING KINGDOM, which was having its first race start tonight, became badly unbalanced and lost ground when momentarily racing tight inside WIN WIN STAR (R Maia) which shifted a minimal amount of ground when laying in behind SUMMIT CHEERS.

Although the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, nonetheless R Maia was told to ensure that he makes every available endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.

SUMMIT CHEERS became unbalanced at the entrance to the Straight.

After the race, Z Purton reported that, given SUMMIT CHEERS' failure to finish off the race over the concluding stages, he did recommend to connections that they consider dropping the horse back in distance at its future starts.

Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on COOLCELEB at the request of Trainer T P Yung.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

A veterinary inspection of PACKING KINGDOM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUMMIT CHEERS, HAPPY TANGO and MANAGEMENT SUPREME were sent for sampling.
