Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (17) - REPULSE BAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
WILD WEST WING and WINE AND WINE began awkwardly.
YOUNG PASSION began only fairly.
TRADER shifted out at the start, resulting in GOODLUCK GOODLUCK and SEVEN HEAVENS being inconvenienced.
From the outside barriers, SEVEN HEAVENS, TELECOM SMART and SUNSET WATCH were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FLYING GENIUS failed to muster speed.
Near the 900 Metres, OUR CREED shifted in and bumped WILD WEST WING.
SEVEN HEAVENS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOODLUCK GOODLUCK passing the 800 Metres.
Passing the 700 Metres, OUR CREED raced tight between WILD WEST WING and RESOLUTE which lay in.
Passing the 500 Metres, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK momentarily raced in restricted room between OUR CREED and TRADER which shifted in.
At the 300 Metres, TELECOM SMART momentarily raced tight inside the heels of OUR CREED which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to TELECOM SMART.
Passing the 300 Metres, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK was directed to the inside of WILD WEST WING to obtain clear running.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TRADER, A Badel stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position if possible.
He said after riding his mount along in the early stages, TRADER did not show as much early speed as he anticipated and was inclined to lay out which made it difficult for him to continue to ride along in an endeavour to cross WINE AND WINE to his inside.
He said he therefore elected to try and obtain a trailing position approaching the 800 Metres, however, TRADER continued to lay out and was reluctant to shift over towards runners to his inside.
He added after being left racing wide and without cover in the middle stages.
TRADER came under heavy pressure prior to the Home Turn and then gave ground quickly in the early part of the Straight and failed to finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of TRADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RESOLUTE and HEART CONQUERED were sent for sampling.

Odds-on choice Resolute just got up by a lip to deny Heart Conquered after chasing the speed three-deep with some cover in third to add to a closing day win over this Valley trip. He's racing well but may find it harder carrying more weight at the top of the grade next time out. Heart Conquered nearly went wire to wire after straightening two lengths on top leading from gate four. He did everything right but get the win. Wine And Wine kept plugging away to just hold a placing without menacing the top-two following a speedchasing run. It was a return to form after disappointing in his final three starts following a win in April. Seven Heavens just out-dashed Telecom Smart down the far outside for fourth after biding his time fourth last and three deep from an outside draw. He can produce an odd good run now and then. Telecom Smart closed late near the inside after turning the final bend one from the rear. It was a nice effort first up this term over an inadequate trip. Goodluck Goodluck held his ground after a wide run in midfield from an awkward gate. He had an excuse and prefers the 1,200m. Punted late Trader faded chasing the speed wide without cover.
