Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (18) - SHEK O HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
At the time of declaration, C Schofield notified a probable overweight of 1 lb in respect of LUCKY QUALITY's allocated weight of 118 lbs.
C Schofield then weighed in an additional 2 lbs overweight, resulting in Jockey Schofield weighing in 3 lbs over the horse's allocated weight.
Jockey Schofield was fined the sum of $7,500.
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of WINNING METHOD.
WINNING METHOD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse was lame in the right front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice, WINNING METHOD was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, WINNING METHOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HARRIER JET shifted out at the start, resulting in THE RUNNER, TELECOM ROCKET and MERIDIAN GENIUS being inconvenienced.
LUCKY QUALITY shifted out at the start and bumped TRANSCENDENT which in turn bumped RHAPSODY.
After this, LUCKY QUALITY and TRANSCENDENT were steadied to obtain cover.
From the outside barrier, VITRALITE was also steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
Approaching the 900 Metres, SMILING CITY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DECISIVE TWELVE.
Approaching the 500 Metres, TELECOM ROCKET was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE RUNNER.
Passing the 300 Metres, VITRALITE raced tight outside TELECOM ROCKET which shifted out.
Then approaching the 150 Metres, VITRALITE was bumped by TELECOM ROCKET which shifted out away from TRANSCENDENT.
Close to the finishing line, THE RUNNER shifted in and bumped MERIDIAN GENIUS.
Throughout the race, RHAPSODY travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of RHAPSODY and TELECOM ROCKET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DECISIVE TWELVE and SMILING CITY were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm?? SUMMARY:

Withdrawal Race 8: WINNING METHOD at barriers on veterinary advice.
2.
Fine Race 8: C Schofield (LUCKY QUALITY): $7,500 for being 3 lbs overweight.
3.
Reprimand Race 3: L Ferraris (SUPERB DADDY) for weighing in overweight after the race.
4.
Warnings Race 4: V Borges (STAY CHILL) re his riding in the middle stages.
Race 5: A Badel (NOIR RIDER) for shifting out passing the 100 Metres.

Decisive Twelve never looked back after leading from gate one to win as he wished as a favourite should. He continues to raise his game for a third win from 12 starts and can score again. Heavily-backed Smiling City stayed on well for second chasing the speed one off the fence. It was a return to form over an inadequate trip. Transcendent hit the line strongly from the rear of the field to just miss a quinella spot. He appears to have settled in after returning to the winner's circle at his penultimate run last season. The Runner ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening fourth following a midfield run. It was another honest effort. Rhapsody kept on OK after getting caught wide travelling fore of midfield from a wide draw. He's one to keep safe from a better draw. Harrier Jet had his chance but couldn't lift along the inside following a rail run in midfield. He is 10 years of age. Lucky Quality made up heaps of ground late down the outside after settling second last from an awkward draw. He'll come on for this run. Winning Method was withdrawn by order of the stewards on the advice of the veterinary.
