Recap by phillip woo

Turin Redstar quickened nicely to win going away 100m out after a wide without cover run behind midfield. He's a rejuvenated runner to win once on each surface from five starts after joining the Douglas Whyte camp to start the season. Party Everyday ran on nicely down the outside from near last to just get the head down for second over King's Capital. He's as honest as the day is long on this surface. King's Capital came from last at the top of the straight to make it a photo for second. It was a much better performance trying the dirt for a second straight time. Beauty Fit closed well from towards the rear to fill the frame after making his run fourth from the rear after a slow start. It was a pleasing effort first time on the surface. Skyey Supreme found a few too good after working to the lead 300m out following a pace-stalking run. He'll be a force to be reckoned with shortly in Class Four. Magnificent peaked on his run 50m out after ranging up to challenge for the lead 380m out following a prominent run. It was a better run with a return to the dirt but he's still trying to find a bottom. Favourite Ultra Express was under pressure a long way out and just didn't click after a rails run worse than midfield. He possibly had an off day after lighting the board in nine straight runs.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (296) - SHA TIN HOI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

As the start was effected, BEAUTY FIT lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow to begin.

From wide barriers, KING'S CAPITAL and RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Passing the 1200 Metres, KING'S CAPITAL was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT HONOURABLE which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of READY PLAYER ONE.

Near the 1100 Metres, CHANCHENG PRINCE was taken wider by SKYEY SUPREME which shifted out away from the heels of INFINITE POWER when travelling keenly.

CHANCHENG PRINCE then travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind SKYEY SUPREME.

Passing the 600 Metres, RIGHT HONOURABLE raced close to the heels of READY PLAYER ONE.

C Wong (SKYEY SUPREME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that rounding the Home Turn he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting out, resulting in SKYEY SUPREME shifting out across the rightful running of CHANCHENG PRINCE which was unnecessarily hampered and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

In the circumstances, C Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 26 January 2022 and to expire on Monday, 31 January 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

Passing the 300 Metres, BEAUTY FIT was shifted out away from the heels of CHANCHENG PRINCE to continue improving.

Approaching the 100 Metres, ULTRA EXPRESS was shifted in away from the heels of SKYEY SUPREME.

After the race, R Maia stated that CHANCHENG PRINCE, when carrying top weight, over-raced in the early and middle stages.

He said because of this, in his opinion, CHANCHENG PRINCE was then not able to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of CHANCHENG PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, M F Poon (INFINITE POWER) stated that in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position.

He said he was able to cross runners to his inside after passing the winning post on the first occasion without having to make too much use of the horse and near the 1300 Metres was able to clear SKYEY SUPREME to race on the rail.

He said in the middle stages SKYEY SUPREME improved its position to be racing outside and just behind INFINITE POWER which resulted in INFINITE POWER not being able to relax as he had hoped after the 1000 Metres.

He said INFINITE POWER came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and due to the horse not being able to relax as he had hoped, was not able to finish off the race over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of INFINITE POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of INFINITE POWER, a last start winner over the course and distance, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, INFINITE POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, K Teetan reported that READY PLAYER ONE travelled too keenly in the early and middle stages which resulted in the horse not being able to close off the race over the latter stages.

A veterinary inspection of READY PLAYER ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of ULTRA EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ULTRA EXPRESS, TURIN REDSTAR and PARTY EVERYDAY were sent for sampling.
