Recap by phillip woo

Raging favourite Party Warrior won going away 150m out after a rails run better than midfield for a second win from his past four starts. He'll remain in the grade and can win again. Flaming Passion just held off outsider Equilibrium Turbo for second after travelling keenly in the box seat. He's naturally finding his feet in Class Three after a Class Four win in November. Equilibrium Turbo was closing nicely with every stride after a one-off run behind midfield. It was an improved run at his fourth start. A Smile Like Yours flashed late down the outside from the rear of the field to fill the frame without threatening the top three. He's on his mark but doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip. Punted late, Diamond Brilliant just held his ground after a one-out, oneback run. The big weight took its toll. The Crown ran on without menacing after biding his time one from the rear. He's not easy to get right. Transcendent ran on without menacing from towards the rear. He has been on his mark in his past five starts following a win in October. Quadruple Double didn't have much to offer in the run to the wire after finding the front from a middle draw. He's more effective at Sha Tin.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (411) - KOWLOON PARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

GOLD CHEST shifted out at the start and bumped DIAMOND BRILLIANT.

EQUILIBRIUM TURBO began only fairly and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After being ridden along out of the barriers, TRANSCENDENT was shifted across behind runners after the 1100 Metres when racing wide.

After the 900 Metres, when racing very wide, A SMILE LIKE YOURS was steadied to obtain cover behind TRANSCENDENT which resulted in A SMILE LIKE YOURS racing at the rear of the field.

A SMILE LIKE YOURS and TRANSCENDENT bumped on a number of occasions passing the 800 Metres.

After the 800 Metres, ALL IN MIND was left racing wide and without cover.

Approaching the 300 Metres, EQUILIBRIUM TURBO became unbalanced when being directed out across the heels of DIAMOND BRILLIANT to obtain clear running.

Passing the 300 Metres, NAMJONG SINGS shifted in and bumped FLAMING PASSION.

Whilst K Teetan's riding out of FLAMING PASSION, 2nd placegetter, close to the finishing line did not affect the horse's finishing position and the margin between FLAMING PASSION and EQUILIBRIUM TURBO, which finished 3rd, was a neck, he was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out all the way to the end of the race where circumstances permit.

After the race, L Ferraris stated that, in his opinion, QUADRUPLE DOUBLE was disappointing in tonight's race.

He said he had to make some use of the horse in the early stages to obtain a forward position, however, he did not believe that this accounted for the horse's failure to finish the race off.

He said QUADRUPLE DOUBLE travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages but after being placed under pressure on entering the Straight did not respond to his riding and weakened noticeably over the latter stages.

A veterinary inspection of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, K C Leung stated that it was felt that were NAMJONG SINGS to be steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier, the horse would get too far out of its ground and have too much to do in the Straight.

He said he was therefore instructed to ride NAMJONG SINGS positively and obtain a forward position but not necessarily to lead.

He said after riding NAMJONG SINGS along in the early stages, there were a number of horses maintaining their positions to his inside after the 1100 Metres and he therefore elected to continue to follow QUADRUPLE DOUBLE over as that horse cleared other runners which resulted in NAMJONG SINGS having to race outside the lead.

A veterinary inspection of GOLD CHEST and ALL IN MIND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PARTY WARRIOR and FLAMING PASSION were sent for sampling.
