Recap by phillip woo

Gallant Express rallied nicely after a patient ride behind midfield to overhaul favourite Super Fortune 30m out for the win. He had been knocking on the door with placings in three of his past four starts. Super Fortune found one too good straightening three lengths on top after racing to the front along the fence 800m out. He's close to a win. Newcomer Copartner Fionn came from near last and down the outside to fill a placing. It was an eye-catching debut after showing some promise in his trials and he's better suited over a longer trip on his overseas form. Our Lucky Glory kept on all right after a prominent run on the fence. Like the latter, it was an encouraging debut run. Kumasi ran on without menacing after a one-off trip worse than midfield. He's slowly acclimatising in his four starts. Five Elements only plodded when asked for an effort after a one-off trip in midfield. He's proven costly yet again. Ready To Win never let down when asked for an effort travelling third from the rear. A sudden win last start was likely a fluke. Punted late Harmony N Home struggled at the rear of the field. He's a Valley horse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (440) - LUCKY NINE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

COPARTNER FIONN began only fairly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of KUMASI, resulting in COPARTNER FIONN losing ground.

COPARTNER FIONN was then steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

RIVER VIEWS and MIGHTY VALOR bumped at the start.

From wide barriers, HARMONY N HOME and READY TO WIN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 500 Metres, READY TO WIN was bumped by COPARTNER FIONN which shifted out.

Passing the 400 Metres, RIVER VIEWS shifted out away from the heels of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE and bumped KUMASI.

Throughout the race, RIVER VIEWS travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, K C Leung reported that, in his opinion, READY TO WIN did not handle today's track condition.

A veterinary inspection of READY TO WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, Z Purton stated that he was unable to provide any reason for the disappointing performance of FIVE ELEMENTS.

He said FIVE ELEMENTS travelled well in the conditions and he expected the horse to quicken in the early part of the Straight.

He said FIVE ELEMENTS took some time to gather momentum after straightening and then over the latter stages was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened.

A veterinary inspection of FIVE ELEMENTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FIVE ELEMENTS, GALLANT EXPRESS and SUPER FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
