Recap by phillip woo

In the field of five, odds-on favourite Senor Toba took control 160m out after saving ground the entire way following a box-seat run for a second win from five starts. He relished the step up to 2,400m and clearly has a bright future as a stayer. Butterfield was no match for the winner but stayed on gamely for second after assuming the lead from Enjoying 300m out following a pace-stalking run. It was a good run carrying top weight. Enjoying kept plugging away to just miss the quinella spot dictating a slow pace. He's been racing well and didn't mind the rise in trip. Looking Great weakened 200m out after ranging up three deep approaching the final bend following a patient ride one from the rear. The combination of rise in class and step up in distance worked against him. Above never produced a whimper from the back. He was a Class Three horse tossed into the deep end here.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (626) - THE QUEEN MOTHER MEMORIAL CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 2400Meters

ENJOYING shifted out at the start and bumped LOOKING GREAT.

Passing the 2300 Metres, SENOR TOBA shifted out and inconvenienced LOOKING GREAT.

When being steadied in the early stages to obtain cover, ABOVE travelled keenly and near the 2200 Metres got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed behind SENOR TOBA.

Than approaching the winning post on the first occasion, ABOVE was bumped by LOOKING GREAT which shifted out.

ABOVE was then steadied to obtain cover behind LOOKING GREAT.

ENJOYING lay out rounding the Home Turn.

Approaching the 300 Metres, SENOR TOBA was crowded for room inside ENJOYING which got its head on the side and lay in away from BUTTERFIELD.

As ENJOYING was shifted out to relieve the crowding to SENOR TOBA, that horse bumped BUTTERFIELD which was laying in, resulting in both ENJOYING and BUTTERFIELD becoming unbalanced.

ENJOYING then shifted out when unbalanced and bumped the hindquarters of BUTTERFIELD approaching the 250 Metres.

After this, ENJOYING and BUTTERFIELD raced tight until after the 200 Metres as BUTTERFIELD continued to lay in when unbalanced.

SENOR TOBA and BUTTERFIELD were sent for sampling.
