Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (218) - MIDDLE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Whilst parading behind the barriers, CHATER PINS kicked a rail.
CHATER PINS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.
WINNING STEPS began only fairly.
REGENCY MASTER was crowded for room on jumping between MOONLIGHT VISTA and SKYEY SUPREME which shifted in.
In this incident, MOONLIGHT VISTA became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by REGENCY MASTER.
LEGION OF MERIT shifted out at the start and inconvenienced MISSION BRAVO.
From the outside barriers, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE, CHATER PINS and VIVA A LA were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, COLOURFUL BARON commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed behind MISSION BRAVO.
Making the turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion, REGENCY MASTER got its head on the side and lay out.
Then after the 1400 Metres, REGENCY MASTER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of COLOURFUL BARON.
REGENCY MASTER subsequently shifted out, resulting in RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE losing ground when crowded for room inside BOOM ALLIANCE.
VIVA A LA, which was following RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE and travelling keenly, got its head up when awkwardly placed behind that horse in consequence.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, VIVA A LA raced ungenerously and after the 1000 Metres shifted out and was checked away from the heels of RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE.
DARCI JOY lost its left front plate in the middle stages.
At the 600 Metres, SHANGHAI DRAGON was bumped by LEGION OF MERIT which improved to the outside of SKYEY SUPREME.
DARCI JOY was shifted out away from the heels of SHANGHAI DRAGON in consequence.
Passing the 100 Metres, CHATER PINS raced tight between DARCI JOY and SHANGHAI DRAGON which lay out under pressure.
DARCI JOY travelled wide and without cover throughout.
A veterinary inspection of MOONLIGHT VISTA, SHANGHAI DRAGON and SUN OF MAKFI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUN OF MAKFI, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE and SKYEY SUPREME were sent for sampling.

Righteous Doctrine quickened very well five off the fence to get up in the dying stages to deny Skyey Supreme and land back-to-back wins on this surface. He should remain in the grade and can win again. Specked late Skyey Supreme led and wouldn't go down without a fight after fighting off a challenge for most the straight by Legion Of Merit. He'll be hard to run down over a preferential mile trip. Punted late Legion Of Merit came to win the race 200m out following a box-seat run but found a few just too good in the run to the wire. Newcomer Winning Steps ran on nicely near the inside to fill the frame after a midfield run. He caught the eye and looks a nice addition to the Pierre Ng yard. Colourful Baron got going from behind midfield to finish next best. It was his best run to date with a step up to 1,800m. Sun Of Makfi made ground early straight before coming up flat 100m out travelling one-off worse than midfield. He's better suited at a mile. Chater Pins ran on without menacing following a patient ride three from the rear.
