Recap by phillip woo

Looking Great overhauled Berlin Tango 50m out after getting all the favours in the box seat for a second win this season win at his first attempt over the Valley 2,200m. He is not easy to get right. Berlin Tango was just touched off late after quickening nicely to lead along the inside 100m out travelling two from the rear. He lived up to a near win last start over the Valley 1,800m. Nearly Fine surged late through the middle to finish a close third ridden for luck out back from a wide draw. He is enjoying a fine campaign. Rise Brethren finished willingly to fill the frame after having everyone to beat at the top of the straight. It was another honest performance. Enjoying gave way 100m out after getting an easy time up front. He is better suited over 1,800m or 2,000m. Running Glory failed to factor after a prominent run one off the fence trying the Valley for the first time. He has disappointed in back-to-back runs. Sight Spirit was under pressure and struggling 500m out after a pace-stalking run. He did not get the trip. Spirited Express did not get the trip after a midfield run. He could not build on a last-start win over 1,800m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (282) - CHEK KENG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 2200Meters

BERLIN TANGO, which sustained a small abrasion to the left nostril whilst in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

ENJOYING shifted out at the start and brushed LOOKING GREAT.

ENJOYING again shifted out and inconvenienced LOOKING GREAT a short distance after the start.

From the outside barriers, NEARLY FINE and RISE BRETHREN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 900 Metres, RISE BRETHREN got its head on the side and lay in away from the heels of SPIRITED EXPRESS, resulting in NEARLY FINE momentarily racing in restricted room.

RISE BRETHREN was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and at the entrance to the Straight shifted out and bumped SPIRITED EXPRESS.

Passing the 200 Metres, NEARLY FINE was shifted to the outside of LOOKING GREAT when disappointed for running between that horse and BERLIN TANGO.

When NEARLY FINE (M L Yeung) was shifted out, SIGHT SPIRIT was crowded for room between NEARLY FINE and RUNNING GLORY which was also bumped by SIGHT SPIRIT.

M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After the race, K C Leung reported that, in his opinion, SPIRITED EXPRESS did not see out the 2200 Metres of tonight's race at its first time of asking.

A veterinary inspection SPIRITED EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, Z Purton stated that racing at Happy Valley for the first time, RUNNING GLORY was inclined to lay out throughout tonight's race, particularly rounding the Home Turn and in the Home Straight when placed under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of RUNNING GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SIGHT SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RUNNING GLORY, LOOKING GREAT and BERLIN TANGO were sent for sampling.
