Recap by phillip woo

Senor Toba kept on gamely after hitting the front near 100m chasing the speed one off without cover in third in a compact field of six. He had placed in good company in two of four other starts this term and looks on track for an up-and=coming tilt in Qatar. Punted late to start favourite Running Glory came from near last to take second. It was a good effort despite a rise in class. Ka Ying Star ended third after moving to the lead near 200m following a speed-tracking run on the fence. He can produce a good effort now and then. Specked late Glorious Dragon ran on steadily for fourth after getting pocketed for a run until the 200m making his run at the rear of the field. It was a better effort at his second start for his new trainer following a lengthy injury-induced absence. Looking Great just held his ground after a prominent run on the fence. He's not good enough. Early favourite Money Catcher disappointed after getting his own way in front. It was poor run after ringing up a second Group Three win this season.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (394) - THE CENTENARY VASE (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1800Meters

KA YING STAR raced keenly in the early stages.

For a short distance passing the 400 Metres, GLORIOUS DRAGON had difficulty obtaining clear running when held up between SENOR TOBA and RUNNING GLORY.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MONEY CATCHER, S De Sousa stated that MONEY CATCHER jumped awkwardly and then made contact with KA YING STAR.

He said MONEY CATCHER obtained the lead and was able to set a moderate pace throughout the early and middle stages.

He said from the 800 Metres he endeavoured to quicken the pace, however, MONEY CATCHER raced "flat??today, did not respond to his urgings and was most disappointing in its failure to finish the race off in the Straight.

Trainer F C Lor stated that he expected MONEY CATCHER to perform well today as it had pleased the stable since its last start win on 11 January 2023.

He said, in his opinion, the principal reason for its disappointing performance was that MONEY CATCHER did not appreciate carrying the weight of 132 lbs assigned to it.

A veterinary inspection of MONEY CATCHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MONEY CATCHER, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MONEY CATCHER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SENOR TOBA and RUNNING GLORY were sent for sampling.
