Solid Impact just scrambled in after hitting the front near the 100m out from midfield on the fence for his first Hong Kong win at his 11th local run. He had been knocking on the door and lived up to his good trial last month. Favourite Lucky Eight made it close on the wire after his one-off-the-fence trip from midfield. He is threatening to return to the winner's circle. Winning Icey came from last and widest out to just miss by a short head. It was a huge run. Red Lion dashed well after biding his time deep towards the rear to finish a close fourth. He is a winner waiting to happen at either track. Savvy Chic stayed on without threatening after his one-off-the-rail trip from behind midfield. He went OK at his second run in a higher class. California Cible kept on one paced after getting caught wide without cover from behind midfield following his tardy start. He had an excuse. Smokey Bear was impeded late after his prominent run from gate 11. He has produced mixed results in his nine city starts. Specked late, Dinkum was badly impeded when trying to split rivals 100m out following a patient ride near the rear from barrier 12.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (424) - TSING YI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

On jumping, SAVVY CHIC was bumped by RED LION which shifted in, resulting in SAVVY CHIC then shifting in and making contact with WINNING ICEY which was crowded in onto HARMONY N BLESSED.

WINNING ICEY and RED LION were then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

CALIFORNIA CIBLE jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

From the outside barrier, DINKUM also jumped awkwardly and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SCIENCE PATCH blundered soon after the start and became unbalanced.

On the Home Turn, SAVVY CHIC was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY EIGHT.

CALIFORNIA CIBLE raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and lay out making the Home Turn.

Near the 100 Metres, DINKUM attempted to improve into a narrow run between SMOKEY BEAR (V Borges) which shifted in slightly and NAMJONG SINGS (C L Chau) which, after shifting out slightly, was then placed in restricted room to the outside of HERO STAR (M F Poon) which also shifted out slightly, resulting in DINKUM then having to be checked when disappointed for this run.

The Stewards found that the minor shifts of SMOKEY BEAR, NAMJONG SINGS and HERO STAR were the reasons for DINKUM having to be checked but were satisfied that the shifts from the respective runners were of a minor nature and therefore Jockeys V Borges, M F Poon and C L Chau were all advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection of SCIENCE PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HERO STAR immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained minor lacerations to the left hind stifle.

SOLID IMPACT and LUCKY EIGHT were sent for sampling.
