Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (546) - THE PEARCE MEMORIAL CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1400Meters
CHRYSOS was slow to begin.
SEASONS BLISS jumped only fairly.
CHIU CHOW SPIRIT jumped awkwardly.
Near the 250 Metres, GOLDEN ARTIE (S De Sousa) became held up for clear running behind JADE PHOENIX and then improved into a narrow run between JADE PHOENIX which shifted out slightly and COUNTRY BOY, resulting in COUNTRY BOY being crowded out towards CHIU CHOW SPIRIT, causing COUNTRY BOY to be steadied.
S De Sousa was advised in similar circumstances to exercise more care.
WIN WIN FIGHTER raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection of CAPTAIN WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CHIU CHOW SPIRIT, GOLDEN ARTIE and JADE PHOENIX were sent for sampling.

Golden Artie came between rivals to just prevail after a box seat run. He had been knocking on the door and relished ridden with cover off the speed. Jade Phoenix kept on gamely to finish a close second after turning the final bend two lengths on top leading from gate eight. The riding change to seven-pound claimer Angus Chung Yik-lai nearly paid off. Firming to jump odds-on, Chiu Chow Spirit peaked on his run 50m out after poking his head in front 100m out following a perfect trip in the one-one spot. He had every chance. Not Usual Star dashed late to finish next best without menacing the top-three after a patient ride second last from gate 10. It was a good run on the back of a paceless race. Seasons Bliss ran on steadily after a one-off run from midfield. He couldn't build on a near win last start but was second up after a break. Never Too Soon ran on without menacing from behind midfield. He's not easy to get right. Country Boy weakened over the last 100m after getting bumped 150m out following a pace-stalking run. He was resuming off a 336-day absence.
