Recap by phillip woo

Blue Marlin reeled in Regent Glory 60m out after switching into the open 350m out travelling midfield on the fence following a tardy start for a first win at his fourth start. He caught the eye last start. Regent Glory did everything right but get the win after racing to the lead 150m out following a pace-stalking run. He's not easy to get right but did win two runs ago. D Star ran on nicely for third after biding his time behind midfield on the fence. He continues to race well with placings in three of his past four starts after a win. Well-backed late Lost Child ran on nicely through the middle to just finish out of the placings after settling second last from gate 13. It was another good run carrying more weight following a last start win. Singapore Sunshine ran on reasonably well from towards the rear. It was his best run from five local starts following a downgrade. Punted late Divine Era weakened over the final 100m after getting caught wide on the pace for nearly half the race. Favourite Galvanic had to snatch up late but was already beaten mid-straight following a handy run one off the fence. It was a disappointing effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (603) - POTTINGER PEAK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

BLUE MARLIN was slow to begin, then raced keenly in the middle stages and making the first turn was inclined to lay out.

D STAR jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

From the outside barriers, SINGAPORE SUNSHINE and LOST CHILD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

DIAMOND FOREVER lost its right hind plate in the early stages.

Near the 1000 Metres, GALVANIC, which was racing keenly, was steadied when crossed by REGENT GLORY (K Teetan) which shifted in when not quite clear.

K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.

Also near the 1000 Metres, SILVER HAMMER commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from UNITED ENDEAVORS.

After the 900 Metres, CLASSIC MOON was left racing wide and without cover.

Approaching the 400 Metres, SILVER HAMMER became held up behind D STAR and was obliged to shift to the inside of D STAR to obtain clear running.

Close to the finish, GALVANIC was steadied when crowded by LOST CHILD (H Bowman) which shifted in when inclined to lay in.

H Bowman was reprimanded.

When questioned regarding HERO ICON racing further back in the field today, M F Poon stated that his instructions were to ensure that he found cover but was given no specific position as to where to settle.

He said in the early stages when caught wide and a number of runners had held their positions, he elected to take hold of HERO ICON where he was obliged to race in a position worse than midfield behind CLASSIC MOON in order to comply with his instructions.

Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions issued.

When questioned regarding the performance of GALVANIC, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, GALVANIC failed to run out today's 1400 Metres and he recommended to connections that the horse drops back in distance for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection of GALVANIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of ALL RICHES and SILVER HAMMER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GALVANIC, BLUE MARLIN and REGENT GLORY were sent for sampling.
