Recap by phillip woo

Colonel was well rated in front to make every post a winning one after turning the final bend nearly three lengths on top. He's always a chance over the Valley 1,200m and made full use of a light weight. Sight Hero flashed home late from the rear of the field to finish a close second. He's been racing well at both tracks all season. Happy Trio had his chance but only plodded over the final 50m after rolling forward three deep to track the winner. It was another honest performance. Exuberant dashed late to finish next best after making his run three from the rear. He's not a prolific winner but rarely produces a bad run over this Valley trip. Stoicism held his ground after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. Easy Snip ran on without threatening from towards the rear after a slow start. A switch in courses backfire. Favourite Prime Mortar weakened after a handy run on the fence. He just hasn't been able to lift his feet carrying big weights in his past two starts after back-to-back wins.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (689) - JASMINE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

At the request of L Hewitson, EASY SNIP was inspected by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

EASY SNIP was slow to begin.

SO AWESOME jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 600 Metres and again near the 500 Metres, CAMINO lay in, brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.

Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres, WOOD ON FIRE was held up for clear running behind FIGHTING STAR.

Passing the 100 Metres, PRIME MORTAR shifted in and bumped CAMINO.

When placed under pressure in the Straight, EXUBERANT was inclined to lay in and proved difficult to ride out to the finish.

FIGHTING STAR raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the race, K C Leung (PRIME MORTAR) reported that his mount found it difficult to finish the race off under its top weight of 135 lbs.

A veterinary inspection of PRIME MORTAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of WOOD ON FIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PRIME MORTAR, COLONEL and SIGHT HERO were sent for sampling.
