Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late to jump favourite, Golden Luck responded nicely to get up for the win after getting all the favours in the box seat. He made full use of gate four after going all right in two of three prior starts from outside draws. Sight Hero ran on well to finish a close second after quickly finding a spot one off the fence despite exiting barrier 11. He has been racing well all season long. Early favourite King Invincible found a couple too good after poking his head in front from Colonel 50m out following his pace-stalking run. He is building towards a win after only four starts. Colonel would not go down without a fight after easily clearing to the lead from gate 10. He ran well following his last-start win. Our Class Act ran on steadily from midfield to finish next best without threatening the top four. He is not far off a bottom. Always Awesome made some ground without ever looking a chance after making his run five back on the fence. He has flashed ability in his three starts but remains a work in progress. Fighting Star ran on from towards the rear without threatening. He is itching for a return to the cellar grade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (727) - SZE MEI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

ALWAYS AWESOME jumped only fairly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of OUR CLASS ACT.

SEE U AGAIN jumped awkwardly and then was bumped by SUPER CONTENDER which also jumped awkwardly and shifted out.

SUPER CONTENDER was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Shortly after the start, FIGHTING STAR was crowded by KING INVINCIBLE which shifted in.

From the outside barrier, CHEONG FAT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the first turn, COLONEL (Apprentice Y L Chung) shifted in when not quite clear of KING INVINCIBLE, resulting in KING INVINCIBLE having to be steadied.

Shortly after, COLONEL continued to shift in towards the rail when not quite clear of GOLDEN LUCK which also had to be steadied.

Whilst the Stewards accepted that COLONEL was inclined to lay in through this section of the race, Apprentice Chung was advised in similar circumstances to exercise more care than he did on this occasion.

Over the concluding stages, KING INVINCIBLE lay in and proved difficult to ride out.

Approaching the winning post, ALWAYS AWESOME shifted out and as a result became awkwardly placed close to the heels of OUR CLASS ACT and could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.

A veterinary inspection of ALWAYS AWESOME and CHEONG FAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLDEN LUCK and SIGHT HERO were sent for sampling.
