Recap by phillip woo

Odds-on favourite Seasons Wit just scrambled in from the fast-finishing Explosive Witness after hitting the front 150m out for a third straight win over the Valley 1,000m. He'll return a Class Two horse but there's likely more to come from the three-year-old. Class dropper Explosive Witness came with a ducking-and-weaving run to make it very close on the wire. He relished the downgrade and return to his favourite Valley 1,000m. The well-backed Harmony N Blessed kept on gamely for third after dictating the run as expected from gate three. He's done very well to place in his past three starts after a win in April. Lucky Gold ran on nicely from towards the rear to fill a first-four spot. It was a good effort trying the Valley 1,200m for the first time after winning two of his past three over 1,400m in Class Four. Specked late, E Universe stuck on all right after chasing the speed wide without cover for the entire trip from gate 12. Humble Star made some ground late from towards the rear after shifting off heels for a clear run 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (825) - LUCKY PATCH HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

AMAZING ROCKY was withdrawn on 11.7.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY GOLD (L Hewitson).

Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING ROCKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SEASONS WIT jumped only fairly and then was briefly crowded between NORTHERN BEACHES and PARTY WARRIOR, both of which shifted ground.

LUCKY GOLD and HUMBLE STAR were crowded at the start between BEAUTY TYCOON and EQUALETTA BLITZ.

Near the 600 Metres, NORTHERN BEACHES was momentarily crowded between SEASONS WIT and E UNIVERSE.

EQUALETTA BLITZ, which was following, was then steadied to avoid NORTHERN BEACHES, shifted out and made the turn wider.

EQUALETTA BLITZ then hung out throughout the middle stages.

Approaching the 500 Metres, HUMBLE STAR, which was racing keenly, was steadied away from PARTY WARRIOR.

At the 300 Metres, EXPLOSIVE WITNESS was steadied away from SUPER VINCE.

LUCKY GOLD, which was following, became held up behind EXPLOSIVE WITNESS and SUPER VINCE and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 150 Metres.

After the race, M F Poon (WINNING HEART) reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the event.

A veterinary inspection of WINNING HEART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of WINNING HEART, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WINNING HEART will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of PARTY WARRIOR and NORTHERN BEACHES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SEASONS WIT and EXPLOSIVE WITNESS were sent for sampling.
