Race Eight : (89) - LUNG HANG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) H Bowman Passing the 400 Metres was inconvenienced when placed close to ACE ONE which shifted out and away from AMAZING DUCK.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 LUCKY ENCOUNTER (H274) K Teetan Near the 800 Metres was eased when crossed by GREENWICH (A Badel) which shifted in when not quite clear.
A Badel was advised to exercise more care.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 RUN RUN COOL (E322) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300 Metres.
Horse No 5 SEIZING THE MOMENT (E444) L Currie Near the 250 Metres was crowded between AMAZING DUCK and ACE ONE which shifted in and away from BEAUTY CRESCENT when giving ground.
Horse No 6 ACE ONE (G196) L Hewitson Was bumped at the start.
The performance of ACE ONE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, ACE ONE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) C Y Ho Approaching the 800 Metres was eased when momentarily crowded by GOOD BUDDY (L Ferraris) which shifted in.
L Ferraris was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when he shifts ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SUPER HIGHWAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 9 COTTON FINGERS (H398) M Chadwick Hung in in the Home Straight and proved reluctant to shift to the outside, placing its rider, M Chadwick, at some disadvantage when he attempted to ride COTTON FINGERS out.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 FOOLISH HEART (J054) K C Leung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 VICTORY SCHOLARS (E091) K H Chan Near the 350 Metres was shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIA VANES to secure clear running.
Horse No 13 AMAZING DUCK (H392) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded by LUCKY ENCOUNTER which shifted in abruptly.
Hung out on the Home Turn.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No ENTERPRISE ATTACK (H340) C Y Ho Was withdrawn on 13.10.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart irregularity) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter SUPER HIGHWAY.
Before being allowed to race again, ENTERPRISE ATTACK will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No HAPPY DAILY (E294) A Hamelin Was withdrawn on 14.10.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter CALIFORNIA VANES.
Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY DAILY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Favourite Lucky Encounter was too smart after hitting the front 150m out following a speed-tracking role from gate 12 for a fourth win from six starts and both outings this term. Beauty Crescent ran on nicely widest out to finish a close second after making his run five back and three wide with cover. He's improved to place in two of three starts this term. Well-punted late Greenwich kept on gamely for third after quicky finding the front from gate 14. He's a nice progressive type. Good Buddy stayed on well after finding a spot one off better than midfield. He goes well fresh. Punted late California Vanes just missed the frame after getting all favours in the box seat. He's gone all right in his three starts this term but does find it hard in Class Three. Cotton Fingers ran on steadily to finish next best from behind midfield. He couldn't back up an eye-catching Hong Kong debut last month over the straight 1,000m. Victory Scholars came up one paced from midfield on the fence. He likely requires a return to Class Four.
