Recap by phillip woo

Rising From Ashes just prevailed after taking the gap to hit the lead 100m out following a rails run from midfield for back-to-back wins despite a rise in class following a Valley 1,650m success. Nimble Nimbus ran on nicely after a four wide run from behind midfield to make it close on the wire. He's honest. Five G Patch ran on nicely with two wider out for third after finally gaining a run 200m out from towards the rear. He'll be hard to beat when stepping over 2,000m or further. La City Blanche made good ground late near the inside for fourth after a patient ride three from the rear. He's not easy to get right. Champion Dragon grudgingly gave way after turning the final bend narrowly on top after prompting the pace outside Meaningful Star. He rarely produces a bad run. Favourite Sword Point came up one paced over the final 100m after a prominent run on the fence. He was first-up carrying top weight and should come on for the run.

Horse No 7 HELENE FEELING (H215) K Teetan Kicked a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HELENE FEELING, K Teetan stated that the preference was to hold a forward position if his mount commenced well, but he was also given the option, if required, to settle further back in order to obtain cover.

He said after commencing reasonably well, his mount was positioned behind BOURBONAIRE and LOOKING GREAT that were on either side of him and as a result he was obliged to come back to look for a position with cover.

He added from the 800 Metres HELENE FEELING was under pressure and after bringing his mount to the outside in the Home Straight worked to the line reasonably well.

He further stated that, in his view, HELENE FEELING may benefit from the addition of sheepskin cheek pieces or blinkers given the manner in which it raced in the middle stages.

Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions issued.

Horse No 14 LA CITY BLANCHE (G371) M L Yeung When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, M L Yeung stated that approaching the 200 Metres he commenced to improve to the inside of RISING FROM ASHES, however, when that runner shifted in and away from CHAMPION DRAGON, he then felt the run commence to close and as a result he directed his mount with the intent to improve to the outside of RISING FROM ASHES.

He added that as he directed his mount out, RISING FROM ASHES then shifted out at the same point which then required him to move back to the inside where he was able to secure clear running at the 100 Metres.
