Favourite Righteous Arion overcame his torrid run forward of midfield to hit the lead 130m out and keep on gamely for his second Happy Valley 1,200m win from 12 starts. Choicerus travelled in the box seat and kept on nicely for second despite receiving a bump on the final bend. It was the best of his seven runs. Tattenham ran on well from worse than midfield to finish a close third. He proved his upset victory on a wet track two weeks ago was not a fluke. Scotch Tycoon settled fourth last from gate nine and closed nicely near the inside to fill the frame. It was a pleasing effort down in grade for his new trainer, Mark Newnham. High Percentage faded back to near last from the outside barrier before making good ground late down the outside. He is a winner waiting to happen from a better draw. Call Me Mighty pressured Kokushi Musou for the lead, and the latter ran out of gas over final 100m carrying top weight. He is better ridden just off the pace. Our Lucky Glory ran on from towards the rear without threatening the placegetters. He should find his mark in this grade soon.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (134) - HING WAH HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 KOKUSHI MUSOU (G006) A Badel After the race, A Badel stated that whilst his mount was not beaten too far, he felt its finishing effort was still somewhat disappointing.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 OUR LUCKY GLORY (G292) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from HAPPY SOUL.

Brushed the running rail near the 550 Metres.

Horse No 3 RIGHTEOUS ARION (H059) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and became unbalanced.

Passing the 300 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SCOTCH TYCOON (G088) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 5 HIGH PERCENTAGE (G413) Z Purton In the middle stages raced keenly.

Over the concluding stages, RIGHTEOUS ARION shifted out under pressure, resulting in TATTENHAM being taken out towards HIGH PERCENTAGE which was taken wider.

Horse No 6 EVER VICTORIOUS (H422) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and then shortly after was crowded between TATTENHAM and CHOICERUS which shifted out.

Near the 1100 Metres raced tight between PRESTIGE MOOCHI which shifted in and away from MELBOURNE HALL and CHOICERUS which shifted out slightly.

Over-raced throughout the middle stages and refused to settle.

Horse No 7 HAPPY SOUL (G249) L Hewitson Near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid EVER VICTORIOUS.

After the race, L Hewitson stated that his instructions, from a wide barrier, were to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages.

He said after settling back in the field, HAPPY SOUL raced in a disappointing manner.

Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions issued.

Horse No 9 MELBOURNE HALL (D118) L Ferraris Crowded at the start.

Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid PRESTIGE MOOCHI when that runner shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 PRESTIGE MOOCHI (H314) M F Poon Crowded at the start.

In the early stages raced keenly and approaching the 1000 Metres shifted out and away from TATTENHAM.

Horse No 12 CHOICERUS (H029) M L Yeung Passing the 300 Metres was momentarily crowded between RIGHTEOUS ARION and KOKUSHI MUSOU which shifted out before being corrected by its rider A Badel.
