Recap by phillip woo

Son Pak Fu showed a good turn of foot to snatch victory on the wire from Bundle Of Charm after settling fourth last from barrier nine. He is a course-and-distance freak and relished carrying 117 pounds up in Class Two. Bundle Of Charm found one too good after chasing the speed wide without cover from the outside gate and hitting the front 150m out. He is building towards a win with placings in his past two starts. Post-time favourite Reward Smile weaved a run near the inside to fill a placing. It was another honest effort. Goko Win got the bob in for fourth after travelling wide without cover in midfield. It was a pleasing first effort at Happy Valley. Xponential was on his tippy toes 50m from the line after tracking Campione and claiming the lead in the home straight. He enjoyed tackling his preferred C&D, but he is a Class Three galloper. Happy Valley specialist Nordic Dragon ran on without threatening the placegetters after six-time Hong Kong champion jockey Zac Purton rode him for luck from barrier 10. He looks like he is on his mark.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (156) - STANLEY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 REWARDING TOGETHER (D334) M Chadwick After the race, M Chadwick stated that with the strong pace of the event, under its top weight, REWARD SMILE was unable to respond to his riding on the Home Turn and weakened in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, REWARDING TOGETHER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 MAJESTIC STAR (E203) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 NORDIC DRAGON (G467) Z Purton Made contact with a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that entering the Home Straight he initially attempted to shift to the outside of REWARD SMILE to improve.

He said when REWARD SMILE shifted out slightly, he then shifted to that runner's inside at which time NORDIC DRAGON lay in and proved difficult to ride out.

He added after establishing running to the inside of REWARD SMILE, NORDIC DRAGON commenced to run on but near the 200 Metres became held up behind CAMPIONE when disappointed for clear running between REWARD SMILE and CAMPIONE and as a result he checked away from CAMPIONE's heels.

He added that near the 100 Metres he was able to shift to the outside of REWARD SMILE whereby NORDIC DRAGON found the line reasonably well.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 CAMPIONE (G235) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that there was blood at the left nostril.

An endoscopic examination found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore was deemed not to have bled.
