Watch Buddy enjoyed a lovely, prominent run on the fence and took control 60m out to record his second win from his past three starts over Happy Valley's 1,200m. He stripped fitter following his first-up assignment last month, and it was not a strong contest. Super Eagle ran on well from behind midfield to grab second. He bounced back to form following three disappointing performances. Gallant Valour ran on nicely for third after his wide trip behind midfield. It was a solid effort first up trying Happy Valley for the first time for his new trainer, Jamie Richards. Telecom Speed grudgingly gave way after finding the front 850m out from the outside gate. He is naturally coming to hand. Exuberant, who exited barrier 11, came from last at the head of the straight to finish fifth. He is racing well this season but did not get the tempo to suit on this occasion. High Rise Solider did not land a blow from behind midfield despite returning to his favourite course and distance. He is getting long in the tooth. Regent Glory threw in the towel soon after getting impeded 250m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (210) - THE ST ANDREW'S CHALLENGE QUAICH (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 HAPPY FAT CAT (G166) J McDonald Bumped near the 250 Metres and became unbalanced.

When questioned, J McDonald stated that in the early stages he allowed TELECOM SPEED to cross his mount when he felt the pace of the event was strong.

He said from the Home Turn HAPPY FAT CAT was under pressure and after being bumped heavily near the 250 Metres gave ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 WATCH BUDDY (H185) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 WINNING HEART (H065) Y L Chung Shifted in abruptly on jumping and was bumped.

Near the 500 Metres EXUBERANT shifted out and away from KASI FARASI and bumped the hindquarters of WINNING HEART.

Horse No 5 EXUBERANT (E282) C L Chau Near the 500 Metres shifted out and away from KASI FARASI and bumped WINNING HEART.

Horse No 7 SIGHT VICTORY (H378) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and was bumped heavily shortly after the start by WINNING HEART which shifted in abruptly.

After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount, which was having its first race start, raced greenly throughout the event and when positioned to the inside of HIGH RISE SOLDIER after the 500 Metres became unbalanced when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of that runner.

Horse No 8 HERO STAR (D033) K C Leung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 KASI FARASI (B385) K De Melo Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 10 GALLANT VALOUR (H323) B Avdulla Near the 250 Metres shifted in and was bumped before being corrected by its rider.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 REGENT GLORY (E323) Z Purton Near the 250 Metres was checked to avoid HAPPY FAT CAT which, after being bumped by GALLANT VALOUR (B Avdulla), then shifted in and away from that runner.

B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount was not suited when the pace of the event steadied in the middle stages and then was reluctant to hold its position when racing amongst horses on the Home Turn.

He added after having to check his mount near the 250 Metres, REGENT GLORY failed to finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
