Copartner Ambition travelled on the rail worse than midfield, peeled off heels 250m out and finished nicely to deny Brave Star and make it three wins from his past four starts. Brave Star did everything right but get the win after racing prominently with cover from gate 10 and rushing to the lead near the 200m marker. He is a winner waiting to happen with three consecutive placings. Early favourite A Americ Te Specso ran on well near the inside for third after Zac Purton rode him patiently. He has done well to place twice at this level following his Class Four victory last month. Bon's A Pearla lifted late to fill the frame after making her run three from the rear. She performed better on her switch to Happy Valley. Prince Of Porty came from last and widest out to finish the next best in his first race at the city circuit. It was a pleasing effort first up this term following his throat surgery. Happy Day ran on near the inside without threatening the winner. He did not lift off his back-to-back wins in Class Four. Superb Capitalist did not have much left in the tank over the final 100m after exiting barrier seven and finding the front.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (250) - JORDAN VALLEY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092) Y L Chung After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that he was able to lead tonight's race, but his mount, which was racing first up for 91 days, did not finish the race off strongly and would derive benefit from tonight's performance.

He added, in his opinion, SUPERB CAPITALIST is better suited on firmer surfaces.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 FASHION LEGEND (J080) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When questioned, A Atzeni stated that after improving into a tight run between LUCKY EIGHT and SUPERB CAPITALIST, when he observed SUPERB CAPITALIST commenced to weaken and shift out slightly near the 100 Metres, this resulted in him having to stop riding for a short distance when he felt the run may close.

He added when he was able to maintain clear running, he continued to ride FASHION LEGEND out to the finish of the event.

Horse No 3 BRAVE STAR (G268) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 LUCKY EIGHT (G204) K De Melo Near the 150 Metres was briefly crowded by COPARTNER AMBITION which shifted in.

Horse No 5 BON'S A PEARLA (G449) K Teetan Hampered shortly after the start when crowded by ACE VICTORY which shifted out and away from SAVVY CHIC.

Horse No 6 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) Z Purton When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn as to why he remained racing behind SAVVY CHIC, Z Purton stated that as he felt it was advantageous to make his run to the inside given his view on the track pattern, he elected to remain racing behind SAVVY CHIC rather than shifting out.

He added as a result he was obliged to steady away from the heels of SAVVY CHIC near the 350 Metres and shortly after straightening he was able to commence riding A AMERIC TE SPECSO along where it finished the race off well.

The Stewards found the explanation offered by Z Purton was reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 7 COPARTNER AMBITION (E218) J McDonald Near the 250 Metres was directed to the outside of LUCKY EIGHT to continue into clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 SAVVY CHIC (G261) A Badel A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 ACE VICTORY (H076) C L Chau Jumped awkwardly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 11 HAPPY DAY (G119) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.
