Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Invincible Sage took control 150m out after travelling midfield in the centre of the track for a third consecutive straight 1,000m win from six local starts. Carroll Street ran on steadily to just grab second after a handy run near the stands side. He rarely produces a bad run over the straight 1,0000m. Wonder Kit kept on well from midfield near the far side. It was a good effort trying the straight 1,000m after some solid Valley 1,200m form this season. Whizz Kid gradually faded after prompting the pace of Kurpany on the grandstand side. It was another honest effort. We Are Hero didn't have much room over the final 200m when trying to improve on the outside fence from rear of the field. He should have finished closer. Punted late Dream Winner couldn't turn it up another gear after a prominent run on the far side. It was another disappointing run despite a return to the course and distance of three wins. Kurpany didn't have much to offer when push came to shove over the last 250m after speeding to the lead from gate six.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (257) - THE LUKFOOK JEWELLERY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 KURPANY (D172) E C W Wong A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 PING HAI GALAXY (C377) A Badel A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 WE ARE HERO (G207) M Chadwick Approaching the 200 Metres attempted to obtain a narrow run to the outside of CARROLL STREET.

A short distance later, CARROLL STREET (K Teetan) then shifted out slightly, resulting in WE ARE HERO then racing tight between the outside running rail and CARROLL STREET and not being able to be ridden out for the remainder of the event when held up for clear running.

The Stewards were satisfied that WE ARE HERO had not fully established clear running when CARROLL STREET shifted out slightly, however, K Teetan was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Horse No 5 ASTROLOGER (G102) K C Leung For a short distance near the 350 Metres was held up for clear running between WHIZZ KID and KURPANY.

Approaching the 150 Metres raced tight as it improved into a run between WHIZZ KID and KURPANY, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Horse No 6 CARROLL STREET (D489) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 INVINCIBLE SAGE (H301) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 WONDER KIT (G455) L Hewitson Stumbled shortly after the start.

Horse No 10 IMA SINGLE MAN (D476) Y L Chung When attempting to load IMA SINGLE MAN, the horse backed out, resulting in Apprentice Y L Chung's left leg making heavy contact with the back gate and sustaining an injury to that leg.

When Apprentice Chung was unable to fulfil his engagement due to the injury, IMA SINGLE MAN was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Apprentice Chung was subsequently stood down by the Chief Medical Officer and therefore was unable to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
