Recap by phillip woo

Crystal Powerful travelled one off the fence worse than midfield and quickened nicely to score his first Hong Kong win on his 16th local start. He had been disappointing before Cody Mo Wai-kit added blinkers to his gear two runs ago. Punted late, Circuit Splendor tracked the speed, rolled to the front 200m out and found only one too good. It was a return to form after misfiring in his past two starts. Happily Friends just missed out on second after chasing the leading pair one off the rail. It was another honest effort. Island Surprise settled one off the fence better than midfield and ran on steadily for fourth. He might not be far off a bottom. Favourite Fighting Star made some ground from midfield on the rail without threatening the winner. He is not genuine. Great Days gradually faded after his prominent run on the fence. He has shown shades of improvement in his past three starts following his downgrade. Charming Steed came up flat when James McDonald asked him for his effort. He has been costly to follow since dropping back into the basement division five runs ago.
