Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (270) - CEDAR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) J McDonald Jumped only fairly.
Near the 1000 Metres was bumped by SIGHT HERO which shifted out and away from GANGNAM STAR.
Near the 250 Metres was checked when crowded by GANGNAM STAR (M Chadwick) which shifted out and away from RUBY SAILING when that runner shifted out.
M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised he should have reacted sooner and with a greater effort to straighten his mount when it commenced to shift ground.
After the race, J McDonald stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and after being checked at the 250 Metres did not finish the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SIGHT HERO (D487) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Shifted out and was bumped near the 1000 Metres.
Approaching the 800 Metres was momentarily crowded between SUPER HIGHWAY and SECOND TO NONE which shifted out.
Near the 600 Metres was again crowded between SUPER HIGHWAY and SECOND TO NONE which was taken out by V LOVE YOU which shifted out when being steadied away from TOP PEAK.
Horse No 3 DIVINE SHINING (G373) L Ferraris After the race, L Ferraris reported that from the outside barrier and with the expected lack of early speed, he was asked to go forward and lead on DIVING SHINING.
Trainer K H Ting confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 4 GANGNAM STAR (H326) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly and was bumped at the start.
Making the first turn leaving the 900 Metres lay out.
When questioned regarding the performance of GANGNAM STAR, M Chadwick stated that he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail.
He added making the Home Turn and in the Home Straight his mount raced greenly and proved difficult to ride out to the finish.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 RUBY SAILING (H347) M L Yeung Crowded shortly after the start.
From the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running and approaching the 250 Metres was shifted to the outside of VANTASTIC CHOICE to secure a clear run.

Horse No 6 SECOND TO NONE (H319) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.
Crowded near the 600 Metres.
Checked near the 250 Metres.
Horse No 7 TOP PEAK (H441) C L Chau M L Yeung (RUBY SAILING) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 250 Metres he directed his mount out when insufficiently clear of TOP PEAK, resulting in TOP PEAK being taken from its rightful running and being taken out, causing SECOND TO NONE, which was positioned to the outside of TOP PEAK, to be checked.
M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Thursday, 4 January 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Horse No 8 V LOVE YOU (J048) K C Leung Steadied away from heels near the 600 Metres.
Horse No 9 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and lost ground and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 MULAN (H145) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and was bumped.
Horse No 12 VANTASTIC CHOICE (G401) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Vantastic Choice travelled in a handy spot one off the fence, went for home 200m out and kept on gamely for his maiden win at his 10th start. Returning from the fetlock injury he sustained in August, which had kept him off the track since his Class Five second in July, he backed up his good trials. Ruby Sailing stayed on well for second after settling in the box seat from gate 10. He has run well to fill the frame in four of his five starts. Top Peak ran on nicely from midfield for third. It was an encouraging debut effort. Second To None closed well for fourth after getting held up early in the home straight. It was a good effort on debut. Sunlight Power made good ground late near the inside to just miss fourth after fading back to settle a clear last from gate 11. He has shown flashes of ability in his seven starts. Plunged late, My Intelligent faded 100m out after prompting the pace and surging to the lead in the straight. Punted late, Sight Hero came from near last to finish the next best. Favourite Gangnam Star plodded after his midfield trip one off the rail. Super Highway slept well after his torrid midfield run.
