Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Super Goldi kept up a strong gallop after working to the front near the 100m following a box-seat run for a nice debut win. He clearly has the tools to head higher. Firming favourite Top Scorer ran on well settling one off from midfield after a sluggish start. It was an encouraging debut performance. Phoenix Light had his chance but found a couple too smart after a rails run from better than midfield. He's not far off a winning run after going well in back-to-back runs following a downgrade. Mr Maestro came with a ducking-and-weaving run for fourth from behind midfield. He's given a good sight in both starts. Fortune Warrior gradually faded after turning the final bend two lengths on top leading from gate two. He seems to perform best over 1,000m. Woodfire Champ made headway late to finish next best after a wide trip from behind midfield. He's shown hints of ability in three of four starts but is still a work in progress. Nishikado ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. Strathpeffer made only a mild bid after a wide trip towards the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (283) - SHUI PIN WAI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 4 MR MAESTRO (J033) A Atzeni On jumping was bumped by NISHIKADO which shifted out.

When questioned, A Atzeni stated that the pre-race instructions were to endeavour to take up a midfield position, however, after the incident at the start, he elected to shift across behind runners from a wide barrier for which he was able to make up ground during the race on the rail.

He said bearing in mind it was only its second race start, his mount was quite green and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the Home Straight, particularly inside the final 400 Metres where it hung in near the 200 Metres when hit with the whip, obliging him having to straighten MR MAESTRO and then shift out several horses to eventually obtain clear running near the 150 Metres.

Horse No 6 SUPER GOLDI (H477) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 SUPER SIXTY (J071) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

After the race, C Y Ho reported that his mount raced very greenly and would derive benefit from today's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 TOP SCORER (J120) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and in doing so made contact with the left side of its barrier.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 NISHIKADO (H172) K Teetan Was ridden to take up a forward position in the early stages and after passing the 1000 Metres commenced to over-race and shifted out, becoming unbalanced making the turn near the 800 Metres.

Horse No 10 WOODFIRE CHAMP (H292) M L Yeung Near the 500 Metres was inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of SUPER SIXTY (C Y Ho) which shifted out when not clear to obtain clear running.

C Y Ho was reprimanded for the manner in which he permitted his mount to shift out.

Near the 300 Metres was restrained and shifted out across the heels of SUPER SIXTY to obtain clear running.

Raced wide and without cover throughout the race.

Horse No 12 STRATHPEFFER (H095) K De Melo After the race, K De Melo reported that he had endeavoured to try and take up a more forward position but was unable to from a wide barrier and then was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout the race.
