Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Blue Marlin put the head down when it counted after a one-off run from better than midfield for a third win from six starts this term. He was reunited with his favourite rider. Super Boy did everything right but get the win after assuming the lead 650m out following pace-stalking run underneath leader Solar Partner. He relished the downgrade and return to the course and distance of a win in September. Silver Up got up in the final few strides for third at a price following a one-off trip from just behind midfield. He came on from a non-threatening debut last month. The Heir came away fourth best after sitting closer in the run three wide with cover from midfield. He's run well in his four starts and can bob up at any moment. Master Of Fortune came up one paced travelling effectively one-out, one-back. He prefers a longer trip. Punted late Seizing The Moment made a mild bid following a rails run from midfield. He's shown some progress in his past two starts. Sixth Generation ran on without threatening from towards the rear. E Legend will sleep well after chasing the speed wide without cover.

Race Nine : (323) - LAI KING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 SUPERB BOY (G335) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 TRUE GENIUS (J073) Y L Chung Bumped at the start.

Horse No 4 BLUE MARLIN (H078) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 MASTER OF FORTUNE (G474) C Y Ho Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

When questioned regarding MASTER OF FORTUNE racing in a more forward position, C Y Ho stated that he was expected to race in a midfield position, but in the early stages when positioned to the outside of WINNER METHOD, he was obliged to make use of his mount to cross that runner to avoid racing wide and, with blinkers applied for the first time today, MASTER OF FORTUNE raced more forward than intended.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on MASTER OF FORTUNE and the reason he shifted to the rail near the 600 Metres, C Y Ho stated that after following SOLAR PARTNER and having E LEGEND positioned to his outside, when he was concerned that those two runners would not provide him with a trail into the race, he elected to shift to the inside to follow SUPERB BOY.

He added that whilst he was aware that E LEGEND had raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event, he felt that by shifting to the inside would provide his mount with a better opportunity to obtain uninterrupted running on the Home Turn.

Horse No 6 ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) K H Chan Crowded on jumping.

Horse No 7 PINS PRINCE (G013) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly and then raced keenly in the early stages.
